Choose Right Trade in Terms of Crafting in FFXIV
2011-01-08
You may not level craft in FFXI, crafting in that game really sucked and crafting may just for some bonuses such as enchanting, for ring buffs and so on. But in FFXIV Power Leveling, crafting is basically thrust upon us by necessity. Not only is an enormous amount of game content focused around the pastime, but one other major factor prevails: gear durability. If you want to have any kind of chance to grind effectively, and those who are level 20+ at this point will tell you that grinding is far more efficient for leveling than simply waiting for guildleves to reset or finding a guildleve part to leech from, you must be able to repair your weapon effectively in the field.
This burden seems to fall hardest on Pugilists at the moment. Their weapons are created by a number of different crafting professions: goldsmiths, blacksmiths, leatherworkers, and some of them require sub crafts like alchemy. On the other hand, I have it a little bit easier. Most Conjurer weapons fall within the field of Carpentry, which means that I have a fairly easy time of it.
So picking the right craft for you has a lot to do with what your main combat class is going to be. Once you’ve selected your favorite combat class, at that point you can begin to hone in on your chosen craft. From what I can tell, it looks like Conjurer and Carpenter pair well, and for Carpenters it seems as though Archers are a good match as well. For Thaumaturges, it seems the best match would be Goldsmithing for their weapons. Marauders and Lancers, my guess is that you’ll find an affinity with Blacksmithing, though I’ve had Lancers ask me to repair their weapons as a Carpenter.
While out and about grinding, I find that my weapon needs repair just about once every hour to 90 minutes. By saving myself a trip to town, not only do I have better grinding up-time, but I save a TON of money. Using myself as an example, my current wand requires a Growth Formula Alpha (about 2k FFXIV Gil from vendor in Gridania) to repair. As a 15 Carpenter, I have about 75% success in repairing it myself, and when I do that it repairs it to 100% durability. Find what craft repairs your weapon, level it up and load up on the repair reagents. Repair your own weapon in the field for efficiency and savings. And Archers, let me dispel this myth for you now: you will not be crafting your own ammunition at low levels of Carpentry.
Keep these in your memory when do crafting in FFXIV, and more Final Fantasy XIV power leveling guide will be available in our web, so just pay attention to it and you will reach I high level early.
