Genshin Impact Varka Skills and Role overview
Hailing from Mondstadt, Varka is one of the traditional DPS in Genshin Impact, who doesn't rely on complicated reactions to deal damage.

He picks up his two claymore to dish out split damage type through slashes and swings of his swords. Varka is an on-field DPS who requires a double anemo-double PHEC (Pyro, Hydro, Electro, Cryo) composition. With this team composition, Varka gets to inflict two damage types: anemo and pyro/hydro/electro/cryo. He's also a Hexerei character so he'll require you to have another Hexerei units such as Venti, Durin and Mona.

Genshin Impact Flins Skills and Role Overview
Flins is a 5-star Electro DPS whose kit centers around Lunar reactions, specifically lunar-charged.

Like Varka, Flins is an on-field hypercarry with his teammates bumping up his damage. Flins is a DPS that deals direct Lunar-charged damage.
A huge chunk of Flins damage comes from his elemental burst. No, it's not the elemental burst with an insane animation. It's the enhanced version of his burst. It's shorter than costs less energy, but is much preferred over his actual elemental burst.
For his team compositions, Flins wants to be around Nod-Krai units that can enhance his damage, namely Ineffa and Columbina.
Should you pull for Varka or Flins?
For this Genshin Impact 6.4 banners pull guide, objectively speaking, Flins is a much better pick over Varka.
However, several factors may influence this decision and could make the other character the better pick.
The main factors here are overall interest in the character and how willing players are to build the teams that support them.
Varka and Flins have great similarities. They're both DPS units with a highly restrictive team compositions. Varka requires Hexerei, Flins need Nod-krai characters.
Should you pull for Varka in Genshin Impact?
If you like an Anemo DPS, if you have good Hexerei units, you should pull for Varka.
It may come as a bit of a disappointment that his in-game strength doesn’t quite match the expectations set by his lore. Nevertheless, Varka remains a strong unit, especially with vertical investment. His team compositions can feel somewhat restrictive, as he functions strictly as an on-field DPS who typically requires a strong Anemo sub-DPS, two PHEC teammates of the same element, and at least one Hexerei unit. On the bright side, this setup also means that future characters released in Genshin Impact could potentially become viable teammates for him. Unfortunately, the same flexibility may not apply to Flins.
If you were hoping to slot Cryo or Electro units into Varka’s teams, there’s some bad news. At present, his optimal team compositions favor Pyro units, and occasionally Hydro, while other elements tend to underperform.
Varka isn’t particularly free-to-play friendly. He lacks strong 4-star claymores, and the pool of viable 4-star Hexerei units for him is very limited.
If you happen to like Nicole and are planning to pull for her, you might also need to pull for Varka. Leaks suggest that Nicole is essentially a 5-star version of Bennett, she buffs ATK and provides a shield, and her signature weapon reportedly grants a teamwide damage bonus. The catch is that she currently works best in Hexerei teams. This could change in the future, but for now, it’s safest to assume that Nicole pairs primarily with Varka.
| Pros | Cons |
|---|---|
| Fast attack string with amazing animation | Performs best only in Pyro teams (or Hydro if you have Furina) |
| Can build a pyro, hydro, electro and cryo team | Not free-to-play friendly |
| Meshes well with Nicole's kit | Doesn't pair well with current 4-star units |
Should you pull for Flins in Genshin Impact?
If you need an electro DPS who can be effortlessly flashy and visually striking and if you have Ineffa and Columbina, you should definitely pull for Flins.
Flins' kit is simple, and he's pretty straightforward to build. His kit and artifact set though requires him to be with another Nod-Krai unit to activate the Ascendant gleam. Now, this begs the question, does Flins actually need Ineffa? The answer is no. Ineffa is a massive upgrade to Flins' kit and damage, but it's never the end of the world if you happened to get Flins, and not Ineffa. As long as you have Aino or an anemo or hydro sub-DPS support, you're good!
Flins is also considered as one of the strongest DPS based on today's meta, so needless to say, it's definitely worth it to pull for Flins.
| Pros | Cons |
|---|---|
| One of the most stylish and attractive male characters in Genshin Impact | Strictly requires at least one Nod-Krai unit |
| If you have Ineffa, Flins is a good pull | To reach full potential, you need Ineffa and Columbina |
| Strong electro DPS | |
| Performs well even at C0 |
