Genshin Impact Skirk build guide - How to Play Skirk?

Now, you're probably in this section for two reasons: first, you have no idea how Skirk works, and second, you've scanned through her entire in-game skill description and still don't understand how she's played. Well, you're not the only one with this problem. So here's a quick guide on how to use Skirk in Genshin Impact.

genshin skirk build how to play skirk

Skirk is a 5-star Cryo DPS in Genshin Impact who prefers a team composition made up exclusively of Hydro and Cryo teammates. One thing to like about Skirk is that she has two playstyles, which adds some variety and flexibility to her kit. So, how exactly do you play her?

Skirk can be played as an on-field Normal attack DPS, or a Quickswap burst DPS. She has this resource called Serpent's Subtlety, which will be consumed for either playstyles. She can gain this by either tapping or holding her skill. In combat, she'll also summon Void Rifts by triggering Freeze, Superconduct, Cryo Crystallize and Cryo Swirl. By using her elemental skill (tap or hold), she can absorb these void rifts. These resources will be used in either of her playstyles.

For Skirk's first playstyle, tap Skirk's elemental skill. This lets her enter a Seven-Phase Flash state. She'll gain interruption resistance this way, and will infuse her sword with cryo. Then, tap her fake or mini ult. This is different from your actual elemental burst and has no animation. This allows Skirk to absorb the Void Rifts, and buff her normal attack damage. The more void rifts she has, the higher the damage. Continue spamming your normal attacks until the timer runs out. After that, your burst will go into cooldown.

  • Normal attack playstyle: Tap elemental skill > Press elemental burst > Use Normal Attacks
skirk genshin best build

For the second playstyle, you can use her actual elemental burst. To do this, she must have at least 50 Serpent's Subtlety. Once met, hold Skirk's elemental skill. Unlike the former, she will not enter the Seven-Phase flash state. After that, press Skirk's elemental burst to dish out a quick 5-hit cryo attack, with the final hit dealing devastating nuke damage.

  • Burst Skirk playstyle: Hold elemental skill > Press elemental burst

When playing Skirk Genshin, it's important that players mainly play her with Hydro and Cryo members. Besides Void Rifts, Skirk could also gain up to 3 stacks of Death's Crossing. Each hydro or cryo attack will give her one stack. Each stack increases Skirk's damage during her normal attacks in Seven-Phase Flash mode, and her elemental burst.

Genshin Impact Skirk Strengths and Weaknesses

Like other characters, Skirk has her own set of pros and cons. This should help in deciding and weighing whether she’s worth pulling for or not.

Strength Weaknesses
Flashy animations Large damage difference between teams with Escoffier and teams without.
Has two playstyles that you can choose from: One sustained damage, one frontloaded burst Locked into Hydro and Cryo teammates, bad news for Melt reaction enjoyers
Has free-to-play options for weapons

Genshin Impact Skirk - Talent Priority

Before diving into Genshin Skirk's build, it’s important to first know which parts of her kit are worth spending resources on.

TalentPriorityRecommended level
Normal Attack★ ★ 3+
Elemental Skill★ ★ ★ ★★ 10+
Elemental Burst★ ★ ★ ★ 10+

One of Skirk's two main playstyles involves her spamming her normal attacks, but this doesn't mean that you should prioritize her normal attacks. The damage scaling from her normal attack comes from her elemental skill. Speaking of elemental skill, prioritize upgrading your skill to level 10 for maximum damage. This makes up most of her damage for the first playstyle. Of course, Skirk elemental burst comes next.

Additionally, within 12.5s after Skirk unleashes the special Elemental Burst Havoc: Extinction while in her Seven-Phase Flash mode, her ATK is increased by 70%. 06. To the Source
Ratings: ★ ★ ★ ★ ★
Effect: Each Void Rift Skirk absorbs via the effects of the Ascension Talent Reason Beyond Reason will grant her 1 Havoc: Sever stack. She can consume such stacks to initiate coordinated attacks and decrease the DMG she takes while in Seven-Phase Flash mode. These stacks last for 15s, and each stack's duration is counted independently (max 3 stacks). You must first unlock the Ascension Talent "Reason Beyond Reason."

Reason:
Effect: A massive upgrade to Skirk's kit. With this constellation, Skirk gains Sever stacks. This could either increase her burst damage during her regular elemental burst, or during Seven-Phase Flash state by triggering additional coordinated attacks.

Genshin Impact Skirk best teams

Listed below are all of Genshin Skirk best teams for our Genshin Impact Skirk build guide!

When building a team for Skirk, there are a few key points to keep in mind. She benefits most from having at least one Hydro and one Cryo teammate. Thanks to her passive, Mutual Weapons Mentorship, Skirk performs best in a team composed exclusively of Hydro and Cryo units, making Freeze teams her ideal setup. She also needs supports that can buff her Cryo damage or Normal Attacks, or sustain characters that can shield or heal the team. For a quickswap DPS Skirk, she will instead require another DPS who can share field time with her.

Genshin Skirk Best Freeze team - Skirk, Escoffier, Furina and Shenhe

Currently, Skirk's best team is the Freeze team, consisting of Escoffier, Furina and Shenhe. Everything in this team falls into place. Escoffier and Furina are both characters with off-field Cryo and Hydro applications with 100% uptime, respectively. This allows Skirk to take the field without worrying about the uptime of Freeze. Escoffier's healing can also activate Furina's damage buff, and double down by applying 55% cryo and hydro resistance shred. This makes Escoffier and Furina a must-have for Skirk teams. Round out the team by adding Shenhe for more Cryo damage buff from her quills.

Quickswap Skirk Double DPS team - Skirk, Neuvillette, Furina and Escoffier

This team uses a quickswap Skirk playstyle rather than opting for a hypercarry archetype. Neuvillette is one of the best picks for this. Neuvillette is extremely flexible and it also happens that he synergizes really well with Furina and Escoffier, Skirk's best teammates. In combat, players can apply freeze through Neuvillette's tap E, Furina and Escoffier's elemental skills before Neuvillette and Skirk take turns unleashing their signature attacks.
