How to use Varka in Genshin Impact 

Genshin Impact’s Varka is a five-star Anemo Hexerei unit, and he’s more than just a character with jaw-dropping visuals and flashy animations.

Varka’s lifeline and bread-and-butter is his elemental skill. Activating it puts Varka in a state where he can deal mixed damage: one anemo, and another element that corresponds to the vision of his party members (except for Geo and Dendro). While in this state, Varka can dish out a special elemental skill and a special charged attack, which he can cast up to 2 times, more if he has constellations. There’s a cooldown between uses, but it decreases with each normal attack he lands, forcing him into the on-field DPS role rather than quickswap. 

The Grand Master’s kit doesn’t rely heavily on complex elemental reactions, but rather on team composition. Reading through Varka’s kit, players might find his team compositions somewhat restrictive, yet surprisingly flexible. He requires pairing with another Anemo unit, while the remaining two slots must be filled with Pyro, Hydro, Electro, or Cryo characters, and both of the same element. This effect can trigger once every second, and the max duration increase is 6s. Additionally, when the equipping character is in the Nightsoul's Blessing state, "Scorching Brilliance" effects are increased by 75%, and its duration will not count down when the equipping character is off-field.

Listed below are your options when building Varka teams. To make the most out of his kit, we do recommend having another anemo unit, two PHEC characters of the same element, and a Hexerei character besides Varka.

Double anemo - double pyro team (Varka, Venti, Durin and Bennett)

Varka’s best-in-slot team is a double anemo, double pyro team composition: Varka, Venti, Durin and Bennett.

Varka’s prime sub-DPS is none other than Venti. Venti just checks all the boxes, instantly making him his best pair. He’s an anemo unit, Mondstadt archon, and a Hexerei character. Venti’s grouping ability also makes it easier for Varka to land his hits. Next, slot in Durin and Bennett. Durin is a Hexerei who applies off-field damage and elemental shred, while Bennett is a staple to teams with an ATK-scaling unit. What makes this team composition even better is that the team can take advantage of the pyro resonance, providing ATK% increase.

• Anemo: Jean, Faruzan, Sucrose, Ifa
• Pyro: Xiangling, Mavuika

Genshin Varka best team - Varka, Venti, Durin, Nicole

For a full Hexerei Varka team, slot in Nicole.

When she arrives, Nicole is expected to serve as a 5-star counterpart to Bennett for Hexerei teams, potentially cementing her role as the top Pyro support for Varka, alongside Durin. Leaks suggest she could function as a shielder, ATK buffer, and overall damage booster. Pairing Nicole with Durin would also trigger the Pyro resonance, further enhancing Varka’s ATK and overall damage output.

Double anemo - double hydro team (Varka, Jean, Furina and Mona)

Double pyro is undeniably the best, but if you’re already sick of pyro teams, try the double anemo, double hydro team. 

For the best Hydro Genshin Impact Varka team team, use the Varka, Jean, Furina and Mona team.

Consider replacing Venti with Jean, and complete the team with Furina, who can apply hydro damage off-field, provide emergency healing, and fanfare buffs. Mona, on the other hand, serves as another source of hydro aura or damage and damage buffs from her burst. Since Mona is also a Hexerei unit, she can activate the passive.

Varka can become a strong unit even at C0 with a good build, and if played well. But if you’re looking to invest in his constellations, here’s what you should know.

C1: "Come, Friend, Let Us Dance Beneath the Moon's Soft Glow"

Ratings: ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Effect: When Varka switches to Sturm und Drang, he will obtain an additional use of the special Elemental Skill Four Winds' Ascension. Additionally, after switching to Sturm und Drang, Varka will gain the Lyrical Libation effect: When unleashing the special Elemental Skill Four Winds' Ascension, or when performing the special Charged Attack Azure Devour, Varka will consume this effect to deal 200% of the original DMG dealt by Four Winds' Ascension or Azure Devour. Reason: Varka gets an additional use of Four Winds’ ascension, raising the charges from 2 to 3. In addition, the first charge deals 200% damage, increasing his overall damage output. A good stopping point for F2P and low spenders.

C2. "When Dawn Breaks, Our Journey Shall Take Flight"

Ratings: ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Effect: When unleashing the special Elemental Skill Four Winds' Ascension, or when performing the special Charged Attack Azure Devour, Varka will perform an additional strike, dealing AoE Anemo DMG equal to 800% of Varka's ATK. Reason: Greatly increases Varka’s total damage output, as for every special elemental skill and special charged attack, he gets to unleash an additional strike equal to 800% of his attack.

C3. "O Friend, Quaff Not the Bitter Wine That Brings Tears of Woe"
Ratings: ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Effect: Increases Elemental Skill Windbound Execution Level by 3. Maximum upgrade level is 15. Reason: C3 increases the maximum upgrade level for his elemental skill, which is his main source of damage.

C4. "For None May Take From Us Our Freedom of Song"
Ratings: ★ ★ ★ Effect: When Varka triggers a Swirl reaction, based on the Elemental Types involved in the reaction, all nearby party members gain a 20% Anemo DMG Bonus and the corresponding Elemental DMG Bonus for 10s. Reason: A teamwide damage increase to anemo and PHEC characters. It can be good, but is not recommended unless you’re aiming to pull until C6.

C5. "Fill High the Cup With Fine Wine, for Tyrants Come and Go"
Ratings: ★ ★ Effect: Increases Elemental Burst Northwind Avatar Level by 3. Maximum upgrade level is 15. Reason: C5 increases the maximum upgrade level for elemental burst. Varka’s Elemental Burst is easily the weakest part of his kit, making C5 feel more like an awkward pit stop than a real power spike. Worth considering only if it’s paving the way straight to C6.

C6. "Beloved Mondstadt, Steadfast You Shall Shine"

Ratings: ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Effect: Sturm und Drang is enhanced: · For a short time after unleashing the special Elemental Skill Four Winds' Ascension, Tapping on Varka's Elemental Skill or Holding his Normal Attack will not expend any uses of Four Winds' Ascension, and will perform one additional instance of the special Charged Attack, Azure Devour. · For a short time after performing the special Charged Attack Azure Devour, tap on Varka's Elemental Skill to unleash an additional instance of Four Winds' Ascension without expending any uses of Four Winds' Ascension. When triggering an additional special Charged Attack, Azure Devour, or unleashing an additional special Elemental Skill, Four Winds' Ascension, in this manner, the above effect cannot be triggered. Additionally, the Azure Fang's Oath effect in Ascension Talent Wind's Vanguard is enhanced: Every stack of Azure Fang's Oath will increase Varka's CRIT DMG by 20%. Reason: Prepare to experience a massive jump in damage numbers after activating his C6. He gets extra sources of damage, and he can receive a total of 60% crit damage.
