Genshin Impact Varka Kit - Role, Skills, Constellations and Weapon

After a steady run of Nod-Krai units in Genshin Impact, we’re circling back to Mondstadt with the arrival of Varka. Varka is the newest five-star Anemo claymore unit in the game. If you want to learn more about Varka, whether to prepare ahead of time or decide if he’s worth saving pulls for, we’ve got you covered. Keep reading to find out everything about Genshin Impact Varka kit, including his role, skills, constellations, and weapon.

Who is Varka in Genshin Impact?

Varka is one of the most hyped characters in Genshin Impact as of late, and it’s easy to see why. He’s the Grand Master of the Knights of Favonius and the current Knight of Boreas. Gameplay-wise, Varka is an on-field hypercarry whose gimmick revolves around dealing split damage with his dual-wielded claymore. Well, a dual-wielded claymore is a first for everyone.

Depending on his party members, Varka can deal Anemo damage alongside one of the PHEC (Pyro, Hydro, Electro, or Cryo) elements.

  • Element: Anemo
  • Region: Mondstadt
  • Rarity: 5-star
  • Weapon: Claymore

Gest of the Mighty Wolf (5-star Claymore)

Varka’s signature weapon is called the Gest of the Mighty Wolf. Here’s everything you need to know about this claymore.

Stats and effect
Rarity5-star
Weapon typeClaymore
Base ATK46
Crit rate7.2%
Passive effectIncrease ATK SPD by 10%. Every time the equipping character's Normal Attack(s) hit opponent(s)/casts their Elemental Skill/performs Charged Attack(s), gain 1/2/2 stacks of Four Winds' Hymn respectively: DMG dealt is increased by 7.5% / 9.5% / 11.5% / 13.5% / 15.5% for 4s. Max 4 stacks. This effect can be triggered once every 0.01s.
Additionally, when the party has the "Hexerei: Secret Rite" effect, each stack of Four Winds' Hymn will increase the CRIT DMG of the equipping character by 7.5% / 9.5% / 11.5% / 13.5% / 15.5%.

Although rare, a character’s signature weapon does not automatically make it their best-in-slot, but luckily, this doesn’t apply to Varka. Gest of the Mighty Wolf provides Varka with most of the stats he needs to carry his team, such as CRIT Rate, CRIT Damage, Attack Speed, and increased damage.

Genshin Varka Favonius Bladework: Dancing Radiance

Like every other character out there, Varka has three types of normal attacks.

Varka is a character who wields dual claymores, so for his normal attacks, you’ll see him swinging both weapons, with each strike dealing varying amounts of damage.

Normal Attack

Imitating an ancient knightly war-dance, Varka wields dual claymores to perform up to 5 consecutive strikes.

Charged Attack

Consumes a certain amount of Stamina to charge forward and perform an especially powerful dual blade slash toward the front.

Plunging Attack

Plunges from mid-air to strike the ground below, damaging opponents along the path and dealing AoE DMG upon impact.

Varka kit elemental skill - Windbound Execution

Manifest the true essence of Favonius Bladework with absolute power. Produces different effects depending on whether the skill is Tapped or Held.

Tap

Leap forward and slash in one fluid motion, dealing AoE Anemo DMG and switching to Stormward Charge mode.

While in Stormward Charge, Varka's Normal Attack DMG is increased, and he cannot perform Plunging Attacks. Also, when performing Normal or Charged Attacks, Varka's dual-wielded claymores will deal corresponding Elemental DMG based on the Elemental Types of the characters in the party, respectively. This Elemental DMG cannot be overridden by infusions.

Additionally, when in Stormward Charge, if there are Pyro, Hydro, Electro or Cryo characters in the party, Varka's Elemental Skill Windbound Execution will be converted to the special Elemental Skill, Four Winds' Ascension, dealing corresponding Elemental DMG and Anemo DMG. Additionally, Varka can also expend uses for the special Elemental Skill Four Winds' Ascension to perform a special Charged Attack, Azure Devour, that does not consume stamina to deal corresponding Elemental DMG and Anemo DMG.

Hold

After charging for a while, leap forward. The duration of the charge will increase the distance of the leap.

Varka’s normal attack scaling is pretty negligible, as his damage comes primarily from activating his Elemental Skill. Windbound Execution allows him to perform a single slash before entering Stormward Charge mode. While in this mode, Varka’s normal attacks hit harder; however, he cannot perform plunging attacks, making Xianyun less useful on his team.

During this state, if there’s another PHEC character on the team, he will also gain access to a special Elemental Skill called Four Winds’ Ascension, which deals AoE damage before going on cooldown. Players can use it up to a maximum of two times. As long as Varka is in Stormward Charge mode, his normal attacks will reduce the cooldown of this ability by 0.5 seconds, up to a maximum of fifteen times. In addition, the charges can be consumed by using a Charged Attack.

Genshin Varka elemental burst - Northwind Avatar

Northwind Avatar: In the name of the mightiest Knight of Boreas, unleash a powerful double slash attack toward the front, dealing 2 instances of Anemo DMG.

If there are Pyro, Hydro, Electro, or Cryo characters in the party, the first slash will be converted to deal the corresponding Elemental DMG according to the priority order of these Elemental Types.

Northwind Avatar causes Varka to unleash a double Anemo slash attack, but if there’s another PHEC character, the first slash will be infused with their corresponding element. Although Varka’s Elemental Skill looks quite impressive, the same cannot be said for his Elemental Burst.

All Varka Passive skills

Varka has four passive skills: Homebound Wind's Paean, Dawn Wind's March, Wind's Vanguard, and Witch's Eve Rite: Dawn's Return. Read on to learn more about how they work.

Homebound Wind's Paean

For every party member from Mondstadt, the Hold version of Varka's Elemental Skill Windbound Execution's CD is decreased by 5%.This effect does not trigger in Domains, Trounce Domains, or the Spiral Abyss.

A good cooldown reduction effect for the hold version of his elemental skill.

Dawn Wind's March

When there are Pyro, Hydro, Electro or Cryo characters in the party, according to the aforementioned priority order of the Elemental Types, every 1,000 points of Varka's ATK will grant Varka a 10% Anemo DMG Bonus and corresponding Elemental DMG Bonus (among the aforementioned Elemental Types, only one element can gain bonus DMG this way). Up to 25% bonus DMG can be gained this way.
Additionally, if there are at least 2 Anemo characters, or at least 2 characters of the same Element among Pyro, Hydro, Electro or Cryo in the party, the Normal Attacks, Charged Attacks, Special Charged Attack Azure Devour and the special Elemental Skill Four Winds' Ascension that Varka deals or unleashes while in the Stormward Charge mode will deal 140% of their original DMG. If there are at least 2 Anemo characters and at least 2 other characters of the same element among Pyro, Hydro, Electro or Cryo present in the party at the same time, the aforementioned effect will be increased to 220%.

Varka’s second passive makes his team compositions somewhat restrictive, as it requires having two Anemo characters and two PHEC characters of the same element. By following this composition, you can gain the following buffs:

  • 25% bonus damage at 2,500 ATK
  • If there are either two Anemo characters OR two PHEC characters of the same element in the party, Varka gains a 140% bonus to his Normal Attack, Charged Attack, Special Charged Attack, and Four Winds’ Ascension damage. If both conditions are met, this bonus is increased to 220%.

Wind's Vanguard

When nearby party members trigger Swirl reaction(s), Varka gains one stack of Azure Fang's Oath, increasing the DMG dealt by his Normal Attacks, Charged Attacks, special Charged Attack Azure Devour and special Elemental Skill Four Winds' Ascension by 7.5% for 8s. Max 4 stacks. Each character can grant Varka with 1 stack of Azure Fang's Oath every second this way.

Wind's Vanguard is another reason why a mono-Anemo team doesn’t work for Varka. Having another Anemo character who can trigger Swirl with other elements allows you to benefit from this passive talent. Examples of such units include Venti, Jean, and Sucrose.

Witch's Eve Rite: Dawn's Return

After completing Witch's Homework: The Untitled Question, Varka will become a Hexerei character. When the party includes at least 2 Hexerei characters, you will gain the Hexerei: Secret Rite effect, which enhances Hexerei characters.
Hexerei: Secret RiteEnhances the special Elemental Skill Four Winds' Ascension: When Varka hits an opponent with Normal Attack(s) in Stormward Charge, the CD of Four Winds' Ascension will be reduced by 1s.

Complete Witch’s Homework to turn Varka into a Hexerei character. When there’s another Hexerei character in the party, Varka will gain an additional passive effect that reduces the cooldown of Four Winds’ Ascension.

Listed below are all of Hexerei's characters in Genshin Impact:

  • Albedo
  • Durin
  • Fischl
  • Klee
  • Mona
  • Razor
  • Sucrose
  • Venti

Genshin Impact Varka kit - Constellations

Varka has six constellations, and here’s a breakdown of all of them.

Constellation 1: "Come, Friend, Let Us Dance Beneath the Moon's Soft Glow"

When Varka switches to Stormward Charge, he will obtain an additional use of the special Elemental Skill Four Winds' Ascension.

Additionally, after switching to Stormward Charge, Varka will gain the Lyrical Libation effect: When unleashing the special Elemental Skill Four Winds' Ascension, or when performing the special Charged Attack Azure Devour, Varka can consume this effect to deal 200% of the original DMG dealt by Four Winds' Ascension or Azure Devour.

Basically, Varka’s first constellation allows him to have an additional charge of his special elemental skill, and it also amplifies the damage of the first charge by 200%.

Constellation 2: "When Dawn Breaks, Our Journey Shall Take Flight"

When unleashing the special Elemental Skill Four Winds' Ascension, or when performing the special Charged Attack Azure Devour, Varka will perform an additional strike, dealing AoE Anemo DMG equal to 800% of Varka's ATK.

Varka receives an increase in DPS as every cast of his special elemental skill or special charged attack will give an additional stance of damage equal to 800% of Varka’s ATK.

Constellation 3: "O Friend, Quaff Not the Bitter Wine That Brings Tears of Woe"

Increases Elemental Skill Windbound Execution Level by 3.
Maximum upgrade level is 15.

Massive upgrade to his damage as he gets most of his value out of his elemental skill.

Constellation 4: "For None May Take From Us Our Freedom of Song"

When Varka triggers a Swirl reaction, based on the Elemental Types involved in the reaction, all nearby party members gain a 20% Anemo DMG Bonus and the corresponding Elemental DMG Bonus for 10s.

C4 provides a party-wide 20% anemo or PHEC damage bonus upon triggering a Swirl reaction.

Constellation 5: "Fill High the Cup With Fine Wine, for Tyrants Come and Go"

Increases Elemental Burst Northwind Avatar Level by 3.
Maximum upgrade level is 15.

Compared to Varka’s elemental skill, his elemental burst brings minimal value. Only pull for C5 if you’re trying to aim for his last constellation.

Constellation 6: "Beloved Mondstadt, Steadfast You Shall Shine"

Stormward Charge is enhanced:
· For a short time after unleashing the special Elemental Skill Four Winds' Ascension, Tapping on Varka's Elemental Skill or Holding his Normal Attack will not expend any uses of Four Winds' Ascension, and will perform one additional instance of the special Charged Attack, Azure Devour.
· For a short time after performing the special Charged Attack Azure Devour, tap on Varka's Elemental Skill to unleash an additional instance of Four Winds' Ascension without expending any uses of Four Winds' Ascension.
When triggering an additional special Charged Attack, Azure Devour, or unleashing an additional special Elemental Skill, Four Winds' Ascension, in this manner, the above effect cannot be triggered.

Additionally, the Azure Fang's Oath effect in Ascension Talent Wind's Vanguard is enhanced: Every stack of Azure Fang's Oath will increase Varka's CRIT DMG by 20%.

The final constellation is almost always what turns a character into a complete monster, and Varka is no exception.

That’s pretty much everything about Genshin Impact Varka kit. He’s not only strong in lore, but he can also dominate in combat, especially if you know the ins and outs of his abilities. So, if Varka has managed to win your heart, or convince you to pull for him, you can get a head start by buying cheap primogems.
