What is the Alien Invasion Update
The Alien Invasion Update in Grow a Garden is a limited time event that brings a sci-fi twist to the popular Roblox farming experience. It was first premiered on February 28, 2026 and will be active for the time period between March 2nd, 2026 to March 8th, 2026. During the event, a bunch of UFOs will spawn over the sky alongside some current waves that will paint the sky green. Along with the event theme, some new seeds, gears and other game mechanics such as mutation has been introduced.
How the Event Works
The event has a thing called Alien Chaos that is the weather change. Every 60 minutes, the Alien Chaos weather starts and any pet without mutations has a chance to get mutated with the new “alienated” effect. The Alien Chaos weather stays for a period of 10 minutes and no mutated pets will be affected, so make sure that all your pets are mutation free. If you are confused about whether you should do it on a private server or a public server, then just to make it clear, it doesn’t matter at all. I have myself tried it both and only had one pet mutation during that time.

The Alien Apple is a non exclusive transcendent crop that plays a big role in the Alien Invasion event of Grow a Garden. It is also the most expensive crop in the seed shop even more than firework fern and Bonanza Bloom. By appearance, it resembles a black round body that emits green gas like aura or gas like thing. It is also pointy on the bottom and has a leaf on top.
Pet Mutation Shard UFO
The Pet Mutation Shard UFO is a limited divine gear that can be obtained during the Alien Invasion event. There are two ways to obtain it: First by completing the submission task and second through the shop using Robux. By appearance, the Shard is Green in color with an odd shape. You can use the shard to give a medium boost to the pet’s passive but drains 0.07% XP/s.
For example, I tried it on 2 Robin with the age of 4 and weight – 3.30kg. On the Robin without alienation, the ability was “grants 12.59% decreased player size” and on the Alienated Robin, the ability was “grants 13.33% decreased player size”. So, basically the boost is only around 0.74% here. But when I tried it on a Spider, the boost was significantly larger.
The final verdict is that the Pet Mutation Shard UFO gives around 30% boost to most of a pet's abilities and it varies for different pets.
How to complete the Event task
During the event, you will encounter an alien dancing in the middle of the map. You need to claim 10 pets with the Alienated mutation and give it to him during the Alien chaos weather. Through many experiments, you can only make 1 mutated pet per hour, so one needs to give a total of 10 hours to complete the event.
Once you complete the submission, the Alien will grant you 1 UFO Mutation Shard. The UFO mutation shard is an important resource that is used to boost your pet’s passive. But obtaining it through the Alien evasion task is not the only source, as you can use Robux to purchase it from the shop directly. For a pack of 10 x UFO Mutation Shards, you will have to pay 1399 Robux, which is kinda on the expensive side but compared to other event shards such as Hyper Hunger Shard, you will still find it as a viable purchase. You can also use your Robux to buy Grow a Garden Pets.
