How to Get to Dimmr Plains in Wuthering Waves: Unlock Guide & Rewards

Dimmr Plains is the newest area added to Wuthering Waves in Version 3.3, and I have to say, it is one of the most atmospheric zones we have gotten so far. It sits deep within Bjartr Woods, inside the Lahai-Roi region, and it ties directly into the main story. If you are wondering how to unlock it and what to expect once you are in, here is everything you need to know.

What Is Dimmr Plains?

Dimmr Plains is a heavily Voidmatter-saturated area located deep inside Bjartr Woods. It is not just another open zone to explore. I would describe it as the endgame of the Lahai-Roi storyline. The Stridergate and its Keystone are both here, and this is where the whole conflict around the Exostrider and Aleph-1 comes to a head.

The area released as part of the Version 3.3 anniversary update on April 30, 2026, along with two new featured characters: Hiyuki and Denia. Both of them play major roles in what happens here, so if you are following the story, their involvement will feel very earned.

How to Unlock Dimmr Plains:Requirements & Steps

Dimmr Plains Unlock Requirements

You cannot just walk into Dimmr Plains whenever you feel like it. The area locks behind main story progress. Here is the exact prerequisite chain you need to follow:

1

Step 1

Complete Chapter 3 Segue: Wishes in the Bell

2

Step 2

Start Chapter 3 Act 5: Starlights from Yesterdays

3

Step 3

Progress through the quest until you reach the Research Institute

4

Step 4

Interact with the portal inside the Research Institute

5

Step 5

Enter Dimmr Plains with Aemeath

The unlock is story-gated, which means you cannot rush it by grinding or leveling. You have to play through the narrative. If you are not at the Starlights from Yesterdays quest yet, focus on clearing everything before it in Chapter 3 first.

One thing I want to flag here: a lot of players get confused and think exploring Bjartr Woods normally will lead them to Dimmr Plains. It will not. The entrance only becomes available once the quest triggers the portal at the Research Institute. So save yourself the headache and just follow the main quest marker.

Step-by-Step: Getting Through the Quest to Reach Dimmr Plains

Once you are inside the Starlights from Yesterdays quest, here is the rough path you will follow before you actually set foot in Dimmr Plains:

Wuthering Waves Starlights from Yesterdays quest
1

Read Luuk's WavesLine message and meet him at his secret workspace.

2

Head west from the Startorch Academy Teaching Zone Resonance Beacon to the Office of Academic Affairs and meet Chase.

3

Defeat Hyvatia inside the simulator cockpit to pass the Synchronist Test.

4

Set time forward two days, then head to the Research Institute and meet Mornye.

5

Interact with the portal in the Research Institute to enter Dimmr Plains.

Once you step through that portal with Aemeath, you are officially in. Head north to find Lucilla and Hiyuki. A cutscene will play out, and the real exploration of Dimmr Plains begins. If you plan on pulling for Lucilla, she plays a visible role throughout this section of the story, so it is worth knowing how she fits into the team before Version 3.4 drops.

Sub-Locations Inside Dimmr Plains

Dimmr Plains is not one flat zone. I was honestly surprised by how much variety it packs in. Here is a breakdown of what you will find:

Location
Description
Solisia Landing

The main hub where Soliskins converge to cleanse Voidmatter contamination.

Sealed Fissure

A snow-covered area sealed by Hiyuki's resonator powers to stop a Voidmatter rift.

Silent Crag

A heavily contaminated area where Voidmatter is so thick it absorbs sound.

Dimmr Deep

The deepest part of the zone, where the Keystone and Stridergate access point are located.

Dimmr Deep is the one you want to beeline to if you are following the main quest. The Keystone is there, and activating it is what triggers the Exostrider sequence.

The Sealed Fissure is worth visiting too. What Hiyuki did there alone to stop a Voidmatter rift, without backup, tells you a lot about how strong she actually is before you even use her in combat.

What to Do Once You Arrive Dimmr Plains

Getting to Dimmr Plains is only half the job. Here is what I recommend doing once you land:

  • Follow the quest marker north to meet Lucilla and Hiyuki. Do not skip this cutscene. It sets up Hiyuki's role in the next sequence.
  • Interact with the Keystone at Dimmr Deep when the quest tells you to. This kicks off the Exostrider piloting sequence.
  • Keep your eyes open for Soliskin Platforms as you chase Denia through the zone. These tilt depending on your position, so move carefully. Standing toward the edge will tip the platform and send you back to the start.
  • From the third Solvein Heartwood Branch onward, you can ask Hiyuki to freeze your platform. This is extremely useful when Denia starts throwing blocks and attacking you directly.
  • In Denia's secret level, wait for blocks to pause before you climb. The game gives you a small window. Rushing it just means restarting.

New Features Exclusive to Dimmr Plains

Dimmr Plains brings a bunch of new mechanics we have not seen anywhere else in Lahai-Roi. Here is what is new:

  • Voidbane Eldertree Restoration: Restore four Voidbane Eldertrees scattered across the zone. Each one rewards Prism Fruits, which upgrade your Expedition Base.
  • Motorbike Tracks: Three tracks total, covering Fixed, Flight, and Stunt challenges. Good for rewards and fun to run if you want a break from the main story.
  • Light Builder Puzzles: You align the shadow of an object to a marking. They look easy but the camera angle can throw you off.
  • Lumescribe Emitters: Activate these by targeting the Solvein Heartwood Branch nearby. They cleanse Voidmatter in the surrounding area, which you need to progress deeper into contaminated zones.
  • Voidmatter Blocks Minigame: Think Lahai-Roi Blocks from last patch but now your character also has to dodge falling blocks. It is more hectic than it sounds.

On top of that, three trophies unlock as you progress. Reaching Dimmr Plains for the first time gives us the "Made in Abyss" trophy. Entering the Keystone site rewards "The Answer Sought." Finishing the full quest unlocks "A Savior Is Everyone." Each trophy pays out extra Astrite, so make sure you claim them from the Trophy menu. If you are running low on Astrite and want to top up before diving into the new content, a quick WuWa top up keeps you ready for whatever the next banner brings.

Conclusion

Dimmr Plains is one of those zones where the story and exploration feed into each other really well. I did not feel like I was just running between markers. Every location has a reason to exist, and Hiyuki's presence throughout makes the whole thing feel grounded. If you have been grinding through Chapter 3, getting here feels like a genuine payoff. Just make sure you follow the quest steps in order, do not try to force your way into the zone early, and take your time with the platforming sequences inside. Patience makes those sections a lot more manageable than they look at first.
