Clash of Clans is known for being able to train a variety of Clash of Clans troops big and small to take down the strongest villages out there. But which Clash of Clans troops should you focus on the most? Here is a quick tier list to help you decide.
The Ranking
Want some COC gems for cheap? Click here! Before going into the Clash of Clans tier list, we will need to discuss how the ranking works. There are five categories of Clash of Clans troops that each have their own characteristics that differentiate from one another. This is also to make the tier list a bit easier to look at since there are about 90 troops in total! Each category will have their Clash of Clans troops ranked from S to D tier with S being the strongest and D being the weakest.
The Tier List
Now we get to the tier list itself. We will split each category into their own separate Clash of Clans tier lists so that you can have an idea of which troops are best in their respective types. This way if you really want to, you could build the ultimate Clash of Clans S-Tier and A-Tier army! Each category will also have an explanation of what makes each one unique, so you won’t get lost. We will even go over the S-Tier Clash of Clans troops and what makes them so strong and special!
The Elixir Troops
Elixir COC troops are made in the Barracks or the Laboratory. To upgrade the Elixir troops specifically, you will need to upgrade the Barracks.
Tier | Troops |
S-Tier | Yeti, Electro Titan, Root Rider |
A-Tier | Baby Dragon, Druid, Electro Dragon, Dragon Rider, Miner, Balloon |
B-Tier | Wizard, Dragon, Healer, PEKKA, Wall Breaker |
C-Tier | Archer, Goblin, Giant |
D-Tier | Barbarian |
S-Tier Overview
Here is a quick overview of the S-Tier Elixir troops:
- Yeti – The Yeti troop is known for its high health, strong attack, and ability to spawn Yetimites for extra damage. Great for defense and offense especially when able to tank heavy damage.
- Electro Titan – The Electro Titan has a high damage output and a chained lightning attack that can hit up to 5 targets. Great to pair with Rage Spells and use against clustered buildings.
- Root Rider – While she has low damage and speed, Root Rider makes up for this with great defense and wall-breaking. Her high defense makes her very hard to take down, making her great for tanking.
Dark Elixir Troops
Dark Elixir Clash of Clans troops are an advanced version of the regular Elixir troops. These Clash of Clans troops are unlocked at higher levels of the Town Hall and are also made at the Barracks or Laboratory. This category only goes to C-Tier this time!
Tier | Troops |
S-Tier | Bowler, Minion |
A-Tier | Ice Golem, Headhunter, Hog Rider |
B-Tier | Golem, Valkyrie, Witch, Lava Hound |
C-Tier | Apprentice Warden |
S-Tier Overview
Here is a quick overview of the S-Tier Dark Elixir troops:
- Minion – The Minion has amazing speed and versatility and is even immune to Air Mines! Both ground and air units can be targeted while still being able to take down buildings. They are a great COC troop for mining especially since they take up very little housing space.
- Bowler – Bowlers are great for players who want to deal more splash or AOE (Area of Effect) damage. This troop will launch boulders at enemy Clash of Clans troops and buildings for great damage. When paired with tank Clash of Clans troops, the Bowlers can greatly shine.
The Super Troops
Super Clash of Clans troops are essentially the special versions of their regular counterparts. For example, the Super Bowler is a special version of the regular Bowler troop. They tend to be way more effective but will take up more housing space which makes strategizing crucial.
Tier | Troops |
S-Tier | Super Bowler, Super Wall Breaker, Sneaky Goblin |
A-Tier | Rocket Ballon, Super, Minor, Super Minion, Super Wizard, Super Archer |
B-Tier | Super Witch, Super Barbarian, Super Hog Rider |
C-Tier | Super Dragon, Super Giant, Inferno Dragon |
D-Tier | Ice Hound, Super Valkyrie |
S-Tier Overview
Here is a quick overview of the S-Tier Super troops:
- Super Bowler – Super Bowlers have the special ability to throw purple boulders that can bounce 3 times to deal some massive splash damage. This makes them much more versatile and powerful compared to the already S-Tier regular Bowler.
- Super Wall Breaker – Thanks to being able to roll on a barrel, this troop is much faster compared to its regular counterpart. It is also great for both wall breaking and injuring enemy Clash of Clans troops in the process thanks to the bigger explosions.
- Sneaky Goblin – The Sneaky Goblin has double the damage and looting capabilities compared to the regular version. With its cloaking ability, this troop can turn invisible and loot buildings completely undetected.
The Builder Base Troops
Builder Base Clash of Clans troops are part of a different game mode where you can defend and attack custom Clash of Clans bases separate from the main village or base. This list only goes down to B-Tier!
Tier | Troops |
S-Tier | Power PEKKA, Electrofire Wizard |
A-Tier | Baby Dragon, Bomber, Beta Minion, Sneaky Archer, Night Witch, Cannon Cart |
B-Tier | Drop Ship, Hog Glider, Boxer Giant, Raged Barbarian |
S-Tier Overview
Here is a quick overview of the S-Tier Builder Base Clash of Clans troops:
- Power PEKKA – The Power PEKKA’s overcharge ability which deals with a great amount of AOE damage is completely unmatched. Not only does it have a huge damage output and great defense, but it can also even trigger traps with the Overcharge power!
- Electrofire Wizard – This troop is known for having both the Inferno and Electro modes. Both of these COC modes have their own unique and powerful abilities such as being able to take down tank enemies with Inferno and chain damage with Electro.
The Clan Capitol Troops
Clan Capitol Clash of Clans troops are specifically meant for the Clan Capitol game mode where clans come together with their armies to defend the Clan Capitol base. This mode just like the Builder Base mode has its own unique set of Clash of Clans troops to pick from.
Tier | Troops |

- Rocket Balloons – The Rocket Balloons are quick to attack thanks to their great speed and versatility in the air. They are a fantastic choice overall for taking down structures quickly.
