OSRS Araxxor Guide: Gear, Mechanics, and Profit

Araxxor is a solo Slayer boss where profit is decided by execution before it is decided by gear price. The standard route needs 92 Slayer, an assigned spider or araxyte task, and Morytania access. A player at 87 Slayer can use a Wild pie boost with a spider task, but the boost must remain active for the entire kill. Once inside, the important loop is to stay out of acid, identify the egg wave, kill the dangerous araxyte, and handle the 25% enrage phase without turning a clean kill into a death or a lost trip.

The practical answer is: bring a strong melee setup built around crush, extended anti-venom+, prayer supplies, high-healing food, and a way to remove Mirrorback Araxytes safely. Farm only when you can repeat kills without burning through supplies or dying. The Araxxor strategy reference and Araxxor money-making page were checked on July 25, 2026; prices and cached hourly estimates can change.

Check Access Before You Buy the Setup

Araxxor is in the Morytania Spider Cave, north-east of Darkmeyer. The boss is task-only: you must be assigned an araxyte or spider task, and Konar can assign Araxxor specifically when giving a boss task. 92 Slayer is the standard level to receive araxyte tasks and fight Araxxor. The current exception is a player at 87 Slayer using a Wild pie boost on a spider task; the boost must be maintained for the entire kill.

You need Priest in Peril for Morytania. Sins of the Father is not a fight-entry requirement, but it unlocks Darkmeyer and the efficient repeat-trip route. The strategy page lists 85 Attack, 85 Strength, 70 Defence, 85 Hitpoints, and 70 Prayer for Piety as practical recommendations rather than hard entry gates.

Route What it needs When to use it
Spider Cave teleport Tradeable teleport item Fastest direct repeat route if you already use it
Hallowed Sepulchre shortcut Sins of the Father, 63 Agility, and two installed ropes Efficient banking and travel through the Darkmeyer side
Ectophial or fairy ring ALQ Ectophial needs Ghosts Ahoy; ALQ needs Fairy Tale II started and fairy-ring access Low-friction fallback when the direct teleport is not stocked

Do not buy a full Araxxor loadout while the real blocker is Slayer points, a task assignment, or Morytania access. Your first budget decision is account readiness, not weapon tier.

Gear: Solve the Venom and Hazard Problems First

Araxxor has high Defence and is weakest to crush. A strong melee weapon is the main damage route, but the inventory needs more than melee strength. His attacks can inflict venom, ranged hits can drain Defence, and magic hits can drain Prayer. Bring extended anti-venom+, prayer potions or restores, high-healing food, and an emergency teleport.

Slot or function Practical route Why it matters
Main damage Strong crush-focused melee weapon Araxxor’s lowest defence bonus is crush; faster kills reduce acid exposure
Defence reduction Elder maul special attack or another confirmed reduction option A successful Elder maul special can drain up to 45 Defence levels; verify the hit rather than treating one spec as guaranteed
Araxyte control Heavy ballista, halberd, Vengeance, or another reliable ranged option A heavy ballista may remove Mirrorback in one hit with the required ranged setup; verify your own damage before relying on it
Venom Extended anti-venom+ Venom damage and cure timing are more important than a small damage upgrade
Sustain High-healing food, prayer supplies, optional combo food Protects the trip from chip damage and missed movement
Utility Thrall runes, special-attack resources, emergency teleport Add these only when the base kill is already stable

For a learner setup, remove luxury switches before removing the venom solution or the Mirrorback answer. A more expensive weapon does not compensate for standing in acid, failing to kill a Mirrorback, or entering enrage with no prayer left. If your current issue is budget allocation, the OSRS Slayer weapon versus supply buffer guide gives a separate way to protect the next trip before upgrading.

The Fight Loop: Eggs Decide the Next Hazard

Araxxor attacks with melee when you are in range. At distance, he chooses magic or ranged based on the lower of your relevant defensive rolls. Both styles can be dangerous: ranged drains 9% of Defence on a successful hit, while magic drains 9% of Prayer. Protection prayers reduce the damage, but they do not undo acid placement or venom.

There are nine eggs around the lair: three red, three white, and three green. The first egg hatches after three standard attacks, then another hatches every six standard attacks. The pattern is one of three rotations: green-white-red, white-red-green, or red-green-white. Identify the south-easternmost egg to read the rotation.

The first practical rule is not “kill every egg immediately.” Damage to an egg carries into the araxyte that hatches from it, and destroying an egg makes the next egg in the rotation hatch instead. Use that information to prepare the next target, but do not leave an unfinished egg at a dangerous health level without knowing what will hatch.

Acidic Araxyte

Acidic Araxytes attack with ranged and can explode on death, splattering acid across nearby tiles. Kill them when the ranged pressure or acid area will compromise your movement. If you can safely tank one while finishing Araxxor, that is a situational choice—not a default rule for a first clear.

Mirrorback Araxyte

Mirrorback redirects 20% of the damage dealt to Araxxor toward itself and reflects half of that redirected damage to the player. In practical terms, attacking Araxxor while Mirrorback is active can punish your own damage rotation. Stop attacking Araxxor, then use a ranged attack from a safe distance, a halberd method, or a correctly timed Vengeance counter according to your setup. Only rely on a one-shot route after verifying that your own damage clears the araxyte. This is the most important “stop attacking” call in the room.

Ruptura Araxyte and acid pools

The special attack leaves acid pools that inflict venom and deal increasing damage while you remain on them. Acid Ball travels toward you and splatters when it reaches a wall; face Araxxor toward a wall when possible so the impact is more predictable. Keep a clear lane rather than trying to preserve every attack tile.

The illustration highlights the hazard-first rhythm: identify the egg, preserve a clear lane, and deal with the dangerous araxyte before returning to Araxxor.

Enrage at 25%: Use the Shout as Your Stop Line

At 25% health, Araxxor enters enrage. His Defence rises by 35, attack speed changes from six ticks to four, and the normal melee attack becomes a cleave. The cleave targets a 1×3 area and leaves acid pools.

When Araxxor shouts “Skree!”, move out of the targeted line immediately. If you use step-under technique, step away from the affected area by two tiles cardinally or one tile diagonally; the strategy page warns that the line direction can be unpredictable. A four-tick weapon makes walking him more manageable, but this is an execution technique, not a requirement for a first kill.

Aranea boots can negate the ranged attack on a cooldown, and stepping under can reduce the cleave area, but neither option removes the need to read acid. The September 2024 update reduced step-under self-damage from the early values, and the later update confirmed a lower self-damage value; do not copy old videos that treat the technique as free damage.

Your stop rule during learning is simple: if the room is filling with acid, take the safe tile and reset your attack rhythm. One extra hit is not worth losing the kill, supplies, or untradeable unique progress.

Loot Choice: Harvest for Profit, Destroy Only for Nid

After Araxxor dies, choose Harvest or Destroy. Harvest rolls normal loot; excess items can fall to the ground if your inventory is full. Destroy forfeits normal loot for a doubled Nid pet rate, while elite clue rolls remain available. You cannot preview the normal loot before choosing Destroy.

Goal Corpse choice Reason
Noxious halberd pieces Harvest The three pieces are part of the normal unique route and are not worth gambling away
Araxyte fang Harvest The fang is used with an amulet of torture to make the amulet of rancour after the required Crafting step
Normal supplies and average profit Harvest Keeps the regular drop table and supply drops
Nid pet only Destroy Doubles the pet chance but sacrifices normal loot; elite clues still roll

The halberd pieces and fang are initially untradeable. The money-making reference warns that the displayed profit assumes 86 Crafting and 72 Smithing to create the tradeable finished items; without those levels, expected profit is materially lower. This is a real profit gate, not a small optimisation.

The same page currently shows a cached estimate based on 35 kills per hour, but it explicitly warns that personal profit varies and that Grand Exchange prices are cached. Use the figure as a comparison snapshot, not a promise. Track three numbers over your own next batch: completed kills, total supplies and deaths, and tradeable value after accounting for crafting requirements. Stop farming when death cost plus supply burn consistently erases the margin.

For a broader account budget, use the OSRS gold and gear-goal guide only after confirming that the boss requirements and crafting levels are already in place. Currency can fund a gap; it cannot create a task, unlock Morytania, or replace the mechanics practice.

First-Trip Checklist and Profit Stop Rules

Before entering:

  1. Confirm the assigned spider or araxyte task and 92 Slayer access.
  2. Bring extended anti-venom+, prayer supplies, food, an emergency teleport, and a Mirrorback answer.
  3. Mark the egg pattern and decide which attack style you will use at distance.
  4. Leave enough inventory space for multi-item supply drops.

During the kill:

  1. Keep a clear lane and avoid standing in acid.
  2. Stop damaging Araxxor when Mirrorback is active.
  3. Remove the araxyte that threatens your movement or ranged pressure first.
  4. At enrage, react to “Skree!” before looking for the next hit.

After the kill, Harvest unless the account is intentionally gambling normal loot for Nid. Record the actual trip result. A sustainable Araxxor route is one where your setup clears consistently, your death rate is near zero, and your crafting levels let the important untradeable drops become tradeable. If any of those conditions is missing, wait, improve the specific blocker, or use a lower-risk Slayer route.

The access rules, recommendations, mechanics, enrage changes, loot choice, and profit caveats above were checked on July 25, 2026 against the maintained Araxxor page, Araxxor strategies, Araxytes task page, Killing Araxxor, the OSRS Wiki’s Araxxor update summary, and Jagex’s Araxyte Slayer Boss poll. Re-check those pages after a combat, drop, or Grand Exchange update.

FAQ

What are the requirements for Araxxor in OSRS?

For the standard route, you need 92 Slayer and an assigned araxyte or spider task, plus access to Morytania. At 87 Slayer, a Wild pie boost can be used with a spider task if it remains active for the entire kill. Priest in Peril is required for Morytania; Sins of the Father and 63 Agility make the fastest repeat route available.

What gear should I use for Araxxor?

Use a strong melee setup with a crush weapon, a venom solution, prayer supplies, high-healing food, and a ranged, halberd, or Vengeance option for the araxytes. Verify that the chosen setup handles Mirrorback before treating it as a repeatable route.

Should I harvest or destroy Araxxor?

Harvest when you want normal loot, halberd pieces, or the fang. Destroying forfeits regular loot for a doubled Nid pet rate, although elite clue rolls remain; it is a pet-only gamble, not a normal profit route.

Is Araxxor profitable in OSRS?

Araxxor can be profitable, but the result depends on kill speed, deaths, supply costs, untradeable-drop crafting requirements, and changing Grand Exchange prices. Measure your own completed kills before treating a cached hourly estimate as a target.
