Qingxiao + Denia + MornyeTeammates drive Mindlock stacks, so a second applier still matters
Element, weapon, banner slot and signature weapon confirmed by the Version 3.6 broadcast. Skill names, Mindlock values and weapon percentages come from the final beta build. Skill multipliers stay unpublished until launch.
Qingxiao is a long field-time carry, not a quick-swap burst unit. Her damage climbs as Mindlock stacks build on the target, so she rewards clean execution and a full rotation over raw stat stacking.
WuWa Qingxiao Kit: Skills, Dual Forms and Resources
Her whole kit carries the Stringblade name, reflecting the guqin she carries alongside her blade. She runs three resources in sequence, and a debuff called Mindlock does most of her damage scaling.
Her Three Resources
Qin Heart. Caps at 100. Built by dealing damage in Sheathed Stance.
Sword Cadence. Caps at 100. Built by dealing damage in Drawn Stance.
Heart Sword Intent. Caps at 100. Built only inside Ephemeral Transcendence.
Neither Qin Heart nor Sword Cadence can be gained while she is in Ephemeral Transcendence. That single rule shapes her entire loop, since the enhanced state and the build-up phase are strictly separate.
Basic Attack: Stringblade and the Stance System
Tap or hold Basic Attack for up to four hits, all dealing Aero damage. Her two stances are not a manual toggle. They sit inside the combo string itself.
Her stances sit inside the combo itself, so a full four-hit string passes through both and feeds both bars. Cutting the string short starves one resource. Her Dodge Counter is Drawn Stance, and pressing Basic Attack after it jumps straight to segment four.
A full four-hit string passes through both stances and feeds both bars. Cutting the string short starves one of them. Her Dodge Counter counts as Drawn Stance, and pressing Basic Attack after it jumps straight to combo segment four.
Heavy Attack: Stringblade and Ephemeral Transcendence
Her Heavy Attack unlocks only when Qin Heart and Sword Cadence both sit at 100. Hold Basic Attack to spend Stamina and cast it. The attack drains both resources completely and pushes her into Ephemeral Transcendence.
One practical read. Her Heavy Attack is a resource dump, not a filler button. Firing it early wastes the state, since both bars reset to zero afterwards and rebuild from scratch.
Mid-Air Attack and the Landing Cancel
She performs up to three aerial hits. The first counts as Sheathed Stance, and the second and third count as Drawn Stance.
The useful detail sits in the landing. After her third aerial hit connects, tap Basic Attack in a short window as she lands. She jumps straight to segment three of her ground combo, skipping the first two.
Note one trade-off. While airborne, her Resonance Skill is replaced by that third aerial segment. You give up skill access for aerial pressure.
Sword Flight and Mobility
Sword Flight drains a separate meter called Flight Qi. She enters it through Sword Dodge, Heavy Attack - Stringblade, aerial segments one and two, Severing Note: Ascendant, both Ephemeral Transcendence attacks, Heaven's Reckoning, and her Intro Skill.
Holding Jump during Sword Flight triggers Sword Step, a forward dash that also drains Flight Qi. She exits by landing, using the third aerial segment, or performing a Plunging Attack.
Her mobility options deal damage rather than pausing her output, so repositioning never costs her a damage window.
Resonance Skill: Severing Note
Her skill splits into two versions depending on what she is doing.
Severing Note: Judgement. The default cast. Deals Aero damage and grants 45 Qin Heart.
Severing Note: Ascendant. Replaces the skill while she casts basic combo segments two or three. Counts as Drawn Stance.
So her skill button changes meaning mid-combo. Press it at the wrong moment and you get a different attack in a different stance.
Forte Circuit: Formless Heart Sword
Ephemeral Transcendence rewrites her buttons rather than boosting numbers on the old ones. It unlocks Basic Attack - Ephemeral Transcendence and Dodge Counter - Ephemeral Transcendence, both castable mid-air, and both carrying a 100% damage multiplier increase until her finisher unlocks.
Both enhanced attacks build Heart Sword Intent. At 100, Heavy Attack - Heaven's Reckoning: Ephemeral Transcendence unlocks. Casting it consumes all Heart Sword Intent and exits the state.
Mindlock: The System That Carries Her Damage
This is her real engine, and it is worth understanding before you build her.
Mindlock caps at 15 stacks. When any Resonator on the team inflicts Tune Strain - Interfered, the target gains one stack. Each stack amplifies the damage that target takes from five specific skills of hers by 2%, with an extra 5% per stack for the first seven stacks.
Run those numbers. Seven stacks alone gives 49% amplification, and the full fifteen reaches 65%. Her Inherent Skill To Know, To Banish then applies the exact same scaling a second time as a damage increase, so both effects stack.
That front-loaded curve matters for play. The first seven stacks are worth far more per stack than the last eight, so a team that reaches seven quickly beats a team that grinds to fifteen slowly.
Mindlock amplifies these skills only:
Heavy Attack - Stringblade
Basic Attack - Ephemeral Transcendence
Dodge Counter - Ephemeral Transcendence
Heavy Attack - Heaven's Reckoning: Ephemeral Transcendence
Resonance Liberation - Billows Beneath Heaven
Her regular basic combo is not on that list. Her build-up phase is genuinely just build-up.
Heaven's Clarity and Swordlight Ward
Two more passives round out the Forte Circuit.
Heaven's Clarity triggers on entering combat or casting her Resonance Liberation. Her next Heavy Attack - Stringblade then applies three Mindlock stacks to nearby targets and raises the damage multiplier of her next Heaven's Reckoning by 100%. Swapping to another Resonator cancels that multiplier early, so commit to the full window once it opens.
Swordlight Ward comes from her Intro Skill or Heavy Attack - Stringblade, and caps at one stack. Taking damage consumes it for interruption immunity and a 60% damage reduction lasting one second, on a one-second cooldown. She is far less fragile than her field time suggests.
Intro and Outro Skills
Her Intro Skill, Tonality Shift, deals Aero damage, grants 30 Sword Cadence, and applies Resonant Chime. Casting Severing Note: Judgement then converts that into 30 Qin Heart.
That is a neat loop. Swapping her in seeds one resource, and her first skill cast feeds the other. Do not treat her Intro as a throwaway swap animation.
Her Outro, Lingering Song, deals Aero damage equal to 800% of her ATK.
Inherent Skills: Solving the Mob-Wave Problem
Stack-based carries usually collapse in mob waves, because the enemy holding your stacks dies first. Kuro built the fix directly into her kit.
Sea of Thought, World of Dust. When any teammate defeats a target carrying Mindlock, Qingxiao gains Gathered Mind equal to that target's Mindlock stacks. If she already has Gathered Mind and the dead target had more, hers rises to match. Gathered Mind then transfers those stacks onto the next Mistuned target hit with Tune Break damage, plus one stack of Tune Strain - Interfered.
To Know, To Banish. Applies the same 2% per stack plus 5% for the first seven scaling as a direct damage increase on her five core skills. It also applies an extra Mindlock stack when the team hits an Overlord or Calamity Class target with Tune Strain - Interfered.
Gathered Mind lasts only one second, which is tighter than it first reads. You need to be actively fighting when a marked enemy dies for the transfer to land.
Tune Break: Draw and Sunder
This section settles the argument our earlier guide left open.
Qingxiao applies Tune Strain - Shifting herself when dealing damage, once per skill per target. She also responds to Tune Strain - Interfered. For each Interfered stack on the target, every point of her Tune Break Boost raises her total damage to that target by 0.12%.
She also raises the target's maximum Interfered stack limit by one simply by being on the team.
So she both applies and responds. That resolves the Echo set question completely, since Heart of Evil's Purge triggers on inflicting Shifting and she can now do that unassisted.

Inflicting Tune Strain - Shifting grants 20% Crit. DMG and an additional 30% Aero DMG Bonus for 15 seconds
Farmable since Version 3.5 at the Eastern Xuan Peaks Tacet Field in Mengzhou. Qingxiao applies Tune Strain - Shifting herself, so the 5-piece needs no enabler to stay active.
Fifteen seconds is a long window. Since she applies Shifting herself now, uptime should sit near permanent once you learn her loop. No enabler required, though a second applier still helps for reasons covered below.
Where to farm it: the Eastern Xuan Peaks Tacet Field in Mengzhou. Tacet Discord Nests around Xuanfang also drop it daily without spending Waveplates, though those drops are shared with other Sonata Effects in the region.
The 4-Cost Main Echo Problem
The 4-cost Echoes currently in the Heart of Evil's Purge pool were not built for an Aero carry. The Overlord option leans into Fusion, HP and Heavy Attack. The Calamity option is Havoc flavoured and belongs to Yangyang: Xuanling.
Version 3.6 adds the Calamity Effigy as a new obtainable Echo, plus the Phantom Echo Myriad Snare: Rustfire Chassis from the Resonance Sim Realm event. Neither has been confirmed as an Aero main Echo suited to her, and the datamined 3.6 Echoes lean Havoc and Fusion.
Our advice therefore holds. Farm and keep 3-cost and 1-cost pieces with clean Crit main stats now. Hold most of your Tuners, but do not bank every single one waiting for an Echo that may not arrive with her.
WuWa Qingxiao Best Echo Main Stats and Substats
Run the standard 4-3-3-1-1 layout.
Qingxiao Best Echo Main Stats4-3-3-1-1 Echo Layout
Why Heavy Attack DMG ranks high: three of her five Mindlock-amplified skills are Heavy Attacks, and Heaven's Clarity doubles the multiplier on her finisher. Push Energy Regen to roughly 110% to 120% so her Resonance Liberation lands every rotation, and keep Crit Rate and Crit DMG balanced rather than lopsided, since her Echo set already grants 20% Crit DMG for free.
Substat priority runs Crit. Rate, then Crit. DMG, then Heavy Attack DMG, then ATK%. Push Energy Regen to roughly 110% to 120% so her Resonance Liberation lands every rotation.
Heavy Attack DMG deserves more attention than usual on her. Three of her five Mindlock-amplified skills are Heavy Attacks, and Heaven's Clarity doubles the multiplier on her finisher. That substat is doing real work here rather than sitting as a generic filler.
Do not blindly stack Crit Rate either. Her Echo set hands her 20% Crit DMG for free and her signature weapon carries a 36% Crit Rate main stat, so a balanced ratio beats a lopsided one.
WuWa Qingxiao Weapon: Glint of Clouds and Best Alternatives
Her signature is a 5-star Sword with 500 base ATK and a 36% Crit Rate main stat. Some leak translations call it Cloud Jasper, but the broadcast confirmed the official name as Glint of Clouds.
Weapon effect at R1 through R5:
Raises ATK by 12%, 15%, 18%, 21%, or 24%.
Applying Tune Strain - Shifting grants 11.2% to 22.4% Aero DMG Bonus for 2 seconds, stacking to 5, triggering once every 0.5 seconds.
At maximum stacks, that buff duration extends to 30 seconds.
While it persists, her Aero damage ignores 10% to 20% of the target's Defense.
That duration jump is the whole weapon. Two seconds per stack is nothing, but reaching five stacks converts it into a 30-second window with defense ignore attached. So the weapon rewards fast stacking early in the rotation, then coasts.
Defense ignore is rare on swords, and it scales hardest against the high-Defense bosses where a carry usually stalls.

Her signature. Raises ATK by up to 24%, then stacks Aero DMG Bonus each time she inflicts Tune Strain - Shifting. At five stacks the buff jumps from 2 seconds to 30 seconds and her Aero damage ignores up to 20% of enemy DEF. Every line feeds her kit.

4-Star
Budget filler that leans on Intro Skill ATK while you farm. Also a rate-up on the 3.6 Phase 1 weapon banner.
Glint of Clouds runs on its own Featured Weapon Convene alongside her in 3.6 Phase 1. Red Spring is another solid 5-star alternative if you own it. Avoid Defier's Thorn, which scales on Max HP, and Azure Oath, which ties most of its power to Havoc Bane.
Swords to Avoid on Qingxiao
Two blades look tempting and are traps. Defier's Thorn scales around Max HP, which does nothing for an ATK-based carry. Azure Oath ties most of its power to Havoc Bane, so a large chunk of the weapon sits dead on her.
Chasing her weapon banner on top of her character banner is expensive, so plan the spend early. If you top up, you can buy Wuwa Lunite at rates below the in-game store and keep more pulls in reserve.

Why a second applier still matters: Qingxiao inflicts Tune Strain - Shifting herself, so she does not need an enabler for her Echo set. Mindlock stacks come from teammates inflicting Tune Strain - Interfered instead, and the first seven stacks are worth 5% amplification each. That makes a support partner her biggest damage multiplier, not a backup. Avoid mixing Tune Rupture units, since Rupture and Strain overwrite each other on the same target.
Denia. Set her Resonance Mode to Tune Strain. She applies Shifting across several skills, hands the team Tune Break Boost, and pushes a target's Off-Tune Level up by half its maximum instantly. Her Outro is the prize. It gives the incoming Resonator 15% All DMG Amplification, jumping to 40% once that Resonator inflicts Shifting. Qingxiao claims the upgraded number almost immediately now that she self-applies.
Mornye. She cannot apply Tune Strain and does not need to. Her Inversion Heavy Attack stamps an Observation Marker on enemies. Once anyone lands a Tune Break on a marked target, that becomes an Interfered Marker, raising nearby ally damage to that target by up to 40% at around 260% Energy Regen. Her Syntony Field also lifts team Off-Tune buildup by 50%, and she heals on top.
Timing tip: do not fire the Tune Break the moment the gauge fills. Hold it until Qingxiao is on field and ready to commit. The Interfered window is short, and lining it up with her damage phase is worth far more than a fast press.
Why Every Team Here Keeps a Second Applier
Denia or Lynae appears in all three comps even though Qingxiao applies Shifting on her own. That is deliberate, and the reason is Mindlock rather than her Echo set.
Mindlock stacks come from teammates inflicting Tune Strain - Interfered, not from her own Shifting application. A second applier drives Interfered stacks faster, which drives Mindlock faster, which drives that front-loaded 5% per stack curve. Her Tune Break Boost scaling then also multiplies off the number of Interfered stacks present.
So a second applier is not insurance. It is her primary damage multiplier.
Who Not To Bring
Skip Tune Rupture units. Rupture and Strain overwrite each other on the same target, so mixing them throws away one of your two systems. Pick a lane and stay in it.
One planning note. Mornye reruns in Version 3.6 Phase 2, not Phase 1. If you pull Qingxiao on release and want her best support, you will need to hold Astrite through the back half of the patch as well.
Qingxiao Sequence Nodes: What Each Dupe Adds
Values are now available from the final beta build.
Qingxiao Sequence Nodes: What Each Dupe AddsAll Six Nodes with Values
Node
What It Does
S1Cheap stop
Crit Rate up 16%. Swordlight Ward cap rises to 2 stacks, and Heavy Attack - Stringblade grants an extra stack.
S2Value spike
Heavy Attack - Stringblade multiplier up 40%. Heaven's Clarity now applies far more Mindlock, and adds World in Chorus stacks that scale her finisher.
S3
Billows Beneath Heaven Crit DMG up 100%. Raises the Mindlock cap and upgrades Gathered Mind to apply 2 stacks of Tune Strain - Interfered.
S4
Teammates applying Tune Strain - Shifting grant her 20% ATK for 8 seconds.
S5
Severing Note: Judgement multiplier up 100%. Sword Flight consumes 30% less Flight Qi.
S6
Targets take 40% more damage from her Heavy Attacks and Liberation. Her Interfered response buff rises 40%, and Juque Perdition procs from Exorcising Seal stacks.
Where to stop: S1 is the cheapest meaningful gain at 16% Crit Rate plus a doubled Swordlight Ward. S2 is the real spike, stacking a 40% Heavy Attack multiplier, extra Mindlock, and a finisher buff into one node. S4 and S6 both assume a Tune Strain teammate, which reinforces that her dupes are built for a supported comp rather than a solo setup.
Two nodes stand out for planning. S2 is the clear value spike, since it stacks a multiplier increase, extra Mindlock, and a finisher buff into one node. S4 and S6 both assume a Tune Strain teammate, which reinforces that her dupes are built for a supported comp rather than a solo setup.
S1 is the cheapest meaningful stop. Sixteen percent Crit Rate plus doubled Swordlight Ward is a real quality-of-life and stat gain for one copy.
Qingxiao Skill Priority
Her kit leans on Forte resources and her enhanced state, so the upgrade order runs:
Forte Circuit (Formless Heart Sword)
Resonance Liberation (Billows Beneath Heaven)
Resonance Skill (Severing Note)
Basic Attack (Stringblade)
Intro Skill (Tonality Shift)
One caveat worth watching. Her Basic Attack tree carries her stances, her resource generation, and her Sword Flight damage, but her regular basic combo is not Mindlock-amplified. That keeps it below her Forte Circuit, which contains every skill that Mindlock actually scales.
How to Play Qingxiao: Rotation
Open with your Tune Strain applier and set up Mornye's markers and Syntony Field.
Outro into Qingxiao. Her Intro grants 30 Sword Cadence and Resonant Chime.
Cast Severing Note: Judgement immediately to convert Resonant Chime into 30 Qin Heart.
Run full four-hit basic combos to fill both bars evenly.
Weave aerial strings and use the landing cancel to skip back into segment three.
Hold Basic Attack at full charge for Heavy Attack - Stringblade to enter Ephemeral Transcendence.
Run enhanced Basic Attacks and Dodge Counters to fill Heart Sword Intent.
Close with Heaven's Reckoning inside the Tune Break window.
Three mistakes will cost most players damage. Cutting basic combos short starves one resource bar. Dumping the Heavy Attack early wastes the enhanced state. And swapping out during Heaven's Clarity cancels the 100% multiplier on your finisher, which is the single biggest hit in her rotation.
Her ceiling appears when Mindlock stacks, Heaven's Clarity, and the Tune Break window overlap, not when she reaches the state first.
WuWa Qingxiao Materials to Pre-Farm
Skyward Glazed Heart from the Thousand-Puppet Pavilion weekly boss. It is the Forte material for Resonators released after 3.5, so she will very likely need it. Three clears a week add up.
Shell Credits and Resonator EXP. Always the real bottleneck on launch day.
Heart of Evil's Purge 3-cost and 1-cost pieces, with the 4-cost slot left open.
Her ascension materials unlock with the patch, since her boss drop and Local Specialty are new to the 3.6 map. We will update this section once the full list goes live.
WuWa Qingxiao Release Date and Version 3.6 Banner
Qingxiao releases on August 20, 2026 (UTC+8) in Phase 1 of Version 3.6, confirmed during the Version 3.6 Preview Special Broadcast. Her Featured Convene is called Wind of Transcendence, and her signature weapon Glint of Clouds runs alongside it.
Denia reruns in the same phase on the Convene False Promise for Tomorrow, which makes Phase 1 an efficient window for anyone building the Tune Strain core. Jingran, Hiyuki, and Mornye follow in Phase 2 around September 10. For the full phase-by-phase breakdown, see our Wuthering Waves 3.6 banner guide.
Is Qingxiao Worth Pulling?
Pull if your account lacks a modern Aero main DPS, or if you already own Denia and Mornye and want a carry who finally uses them properly. The Tune Strain core is well supported, and she is the damage dealer it has been missing. Her self-applied Shifting also makes her far less dependent on a specific enabler than earlier leaks suggested.
Think twice if you are hoarding for Hsin in Version 3.7, if your roster is already crowded with on-field carries, or if you dislike execution-heavy units. Her rotation has more failure points than most, and a sloppy loop loses a lot of damage.
One honest flag on her Sword Flight. Early beta testers described it as unrestricted movement, but a later build added Flight Qi drain, bringing it closer to standard gliding. If you were expecting free infinite flight, adjust that expectation before you pull.
Conclusion
Qingxiao is one of the more complete carries in Wuthering Waves, and the useful part is how much of her build you can prepare before she arrives. Heart of Evil's Purge is farmable now, her supports already exist, and the Mindlock system gives Tune Strain teams a genuine payoff instead of a debuff that just sits there. Lock in the pieces you control, which means clean Crit substats, weekly boss clears, and a sword that will not hold her back. Leave the 4-cost Echo slot open until Version 3.6 shows its hand, and Qingxiao will run near full power on day one instead of a week late.
Pulling Qingxiao and her signature weapon takes a healthy stock of Astrite. Beyond clearing the new version's events, you can stock up fast with a secure Wuthering Waves Top Up before her banner goes live.
Pulling Qingxiao and her signature weapon takes a healthy stock of Astrite. Except for finishing the events of the new version, you can stock up fast with a secure Wuthering Waves Top Up before her banner updates.
FAQs
When is the Qingxiao release date?
August 20, 2026 (UTC+8), in Phase 1 of Version 3.6. Kuro Games confirmed this during the Version 3.6 Preview Special Broadcast. Her Featured Convene is called Wind of Transcendence.
Is Qingxiao an Aero character?
Yes. The broadcast confirmed her as a 5-star Aero Resonator wielding a Sword. Older leaks suggesting Glacio were wrong.
How does the Qingxiao kit work?
She builds Qin Heart in Sheathed Stance and Sword Cadence in Drawn Stance, both sitting inside her four-hit basic combo. At full on both, Heavy Attack - Stringblade sends her into Ephemeral Transcendence, where enhanced attacks build Heart Sword Intent toward her Heaven's Reckoning finisher.
What is Mindlock in Qingxiao's kit?
A debuff capping at 15 stacks, applied whenever any teammate inflicts Tune Strain - Interfered. Each stack amplifies the damage the target takes from five of her skills by 2%, plus an extra 5% per stack for the first seven stacks. Seven stacks alone is worth 49% amplification, so reaching seven quickly matters more than grinding to fifteen slowly.
What is the best Echo set for Qingxiao?
Heart of Evil's Purge. The 2-piece gives 10% Aero DMG Bonus, and the 5-piece grants 20% Crit DMG and 30% Aero DMG Bonus for 15 seconds after she inflicts Tune Strain - Shifting. It has been farmable since Version 3.5 at the Eastern Xuan Peaks Tacet Field.
What is the best Qingxiao weapon?
Glint of Clouds, her signature 5-star Sword, with 500 base ATK and a 36% Crit Rate main stat. Emerald of Genesis is the strongest alternative, with Red Spring, Somnoire Anchor, Lumingloss, and Commando of Conviction as further options.
What does Glint of Clouds do?
It raises her ATK and grants stacking Aero DMG Bonus each time she inflicts Tune Strain - Shifting. At five stacks the buff extends from 2 seconds to 30 seconds, and her Aero damage ignores 10% to 20% of the target's Defense depending on refinement. That duration jump is the whole weapon, so stack it fast early in the rotation.
Who are the best teammates for Qingxiao?
Denia in Tune Strain mode and Mornye. Denia hands her up to 40% All DMG Amplification through her Outro, and Mornye's Interfered Marker raises the damage enemies take by up to 40%. Note that Denia reruns in 3.6 Phase 1 but Mornye only returns in Phase 2.
Does Qingxiao need a Tune Strain support to work?
No. She applies Tune Strain - Shifting herself through her Tune Break passive, Draw and Sunder. A second applier still matters a lot though, because Mindlock stacks come from teammates inflicting Tune Strain - Interfered, not from her own Shifting application.
Should I farm her 4-cost Echo now?
Not yet. The Heart of Evil's Purge pool has no strong Aero 4-cost main Echo today, and the new Version 3.6 Echoes lean Havoc and Fusion. Farm the 3-cost and 1-cost pieces with clean Crit main stats, and hold most of your Tuners without banking every single one.
Which Sequence Node is worth stopping at?
S1 is the cheapest meaningful gain at 16% Crit Rate plus a doubled Swordlight Ward cap. S2 is the real value spike, stacking a 40% Heavy Attack multiplier, extra Mindlock application, and a finisher buff into one node.
Is Qingxiao squishy?
Less than her field time suggests. Her Intro Skill and Heavy Attack - Stringblade grant Swordlight Ward, which consumes on damage to give interruption immunity and a 60% damage reduction for one second, on a one-second cooldown.
Is Qingxiao worth pulling?
She is a strong pull if you lack a modern Aero main DPS, or already own Denia and Mornye and want the carry that finishes that core. Think twice if you are saving for Hsin in Version 3.7, your roster is crowded with on-field carries, or you dislike execution-heavy units with multiple failure points in the rotation.
