How to play Nangong Yu in ZZZ
Nangong Yu is an S rank Ether Stunner, and unlike Lycaon, Lighter, Qingyi, and Dialyn, her kit wants you to shy away from attack-based teams. She is different than the rest of the stunners, and for good reason.
Instead of Impact, you'll want to build Anomaly mastery to turn up her daze output.
Nangong Yu would want to use her hold basic attack: Adorable Mine Sky Strike to stun enemies fast. This attack can reach up to third stage, with the second and third consuming 50 downbeat points. Nangong Yu can have up to 100 points, and she accumulates 4 points per second, and another 20 when the enemy enters an anomaly state, essentially the reason why she's better off with anomaly agents. The faster she regains Downbeat, the higher daze she can apply.
In combat, Nangong Yu will start throwing out buffs and debuffs. She buffs her own daze and anomaly buildup rate, and provides a whopping 30% damage and 50 ATK (from ultimate) increase to all squad members. By activating her additional ability, Nangong Yu also gets to trigger these effects:
- 20% anomaly buildup rate
- 40% anomaly buildup rate (chain attack)
- Polarity disorder
During a stun period, Nangong Yu can apply Polarity disorder twice at most using Dance fever passive. Quick fact: Aria can also trigger this Polarity disorder as long as NY has at least one stack of Dance Fever.
To stun enemies fast, you'll want to use your charged attacks and EX Specials. After staggering an enemy, this is where the fun part comes.
After staggering the enemies, Nangong Yu can increase the stun multiplier and the duration. Additionally, she gets to apply at most 4 marks. When detonated, Nangong Yu will inflict Abloom damage.

When building Nangong Yu, you'd want to find drive disc sets that offer the following: Anomaly Proficiency, Anomaly Mastery, Impact and Ether damage. For her, you have three main options for ZZZ Nangong yu build.

Nangong Yu does not have a signature W-engine, but we can say her best-in-slot is the Freedom Blues. Freedom Blues gives 30 Anomaly Proficiency, and reduces the enemy's resistance to Ether Anomaly buildup after using her EX Special.
Pair this with Phaeton's Melody for a nice 8% Anomaly Mastery increase, or Chaos Jazz for 30 Anomaly Proficiency.

Phaetons Melody is a drive disc set that provides 8% anomaly mastery, and a 45 increase to anomaly proficiency. Additionally, she receives a boost to her Ether damage. Overall, this increases her impact, hence daze output, and her personal damage.
Complete the set by adding 2 pc Freedom Blues or Chaos Jazz.

Shockstar Disco has always been the go-to drive disc set that nearly all stunners use, but it does seem that this might not be the most optimal build for Nangong Yu. Nangong Yu's daze output increases the more Anomaly Mastery you have. On top of that, Freedom Blues and Phaeton's Melody also do a pretty good job at amplifying her personal damage. That said, Shockstar Disco can still be effective. It boosts her impact by 6% and allows her Basic Attack, Dash Attack, and Dodge counters to deal more daze.

Zenless Zone Zero Nangong Yu build - W-engines
Neon Fantasies, Ice-Jade Teapot, The Restrained and Precious Fossilized Core are her best W-engines.
Nangong Yu is the first agent in her niche who almost took two roles at the same time. She's a stunner who, instead of Impact, relies on Anomaly Mastery. This makes it her options of W-engines a bit limited, if you want to fully maximize her kit. That said, Nangong Yu has plenty of choices for W-engines, whether you like premium or free-to-play options.
Neon Fantasies

For a stunner and buffer like Nangong Yu, she certainly is lucky enough to be blessed with a drive disc that's packed with impressive stats. If you want to maximize Nangong Yu and your team's damage, you may consider this W-engine a must pull for your ZZZ Nangong Yu build.
Neon Fantasies is an anomaly mastery W-engine, that can also give her anomaly proficiency. The best component of this W-engine kit is she gets to buff all squad members' damage by 30%.
Unfortunately, this is the only anomaly mastery W-engine in Zenless Zone Zero. Not even the anomaly agents possess any W-engine with an anomaly mastery as its main stats, so she cannot use Anomaly w-engines as stats stick as well. So if want to maximize Nangong Yu's damage and daze, we do recommend spending pulls for this weapon.
Ice Jade Teapot

Ice-Jade Teapot is Nangong Yu's second best-in-slot for the best Zenless Zone Zero Nangong Yu build. Like Neon Fantasies, Ice-Jade Teapot boosts Nangong Yu by directly giving her impact. One can get stacks of Ice-Jade Teapot's passive by landing continuous basic attack which Nangong Yu can pull off quite easily. After achievement at least half of the maximum stacks, Nangong Yu gets to provide a teamwide damage increase.
The Restrained

Free-to-play friend W-engine that allows Nangong Yu to stun enemies faster, but comes with a catch. To maximize this W-engine, Nangong Yu must maintain her HP above 75%. This is quite easy as Nangong Yu is capable of blocking attacks, and has a damage resistance in her kit.

Angels of Delusion Nangong Yu Team - Aria, Nangong Yu and Sunna
Of course, the whole Angels of Delusion squad consisting of Aria, Nangong Yu and Sunna will be first on this list. Not only do they look cute together, but they are at their best when in a team.
Aria is an Ether Anomaly DPS, who like Nangong Yu, has a kit that strays away from the usual anomaly agent setup. She doesn't necessarily require disorder procs, and another anomaly agent. Instead, she needs a stunner that set things up for her. With Nangong Yu's abloom and disorder procs, ether anomaly attribute, buffs and debuffs and ether veil, expect high damage numbers on your screen. Slot in Sunna who will serve as the generalist support. She heals, she buffs damage and also has an Ether veil, allowing Aria to gain more Fandom Powers.
If you don't have Sunna, a good contender will be Yuzuha, who happens to be the strongest Anomaly support currently.
Void Hunter x Angel team - Miyabi, Nangong Yu and Yuzuha

Like the team mentioned above, this squad functions like clockwork. The best Anomaly DPS with the best Anomaly stunner and Anomaly Support.
Miyabi is a Frost Anomaly DPS who gets stacks by triggering disorders, frostburn, EX specials and ultimate. Combining Yuzuha and Nangong Yu, Miyabi gets to receive ATK buffs, stun damage multipliers, stun duration extension, polarity disorder (from Nangong Yu's additional ability), Anomaly build up rate increase, anomaly and disorder damage increase. Having two ether squadmates with the same element also means frequent disorder procs.
Rat x Angel Team - Jane Doe, Nangong Yu and Yuzuha
