FUT 20 Global Series Postponed Due to Coronavirus Pandemic03/25/2020
FUT 20 officials are doing their part in stopping the coronavirus spread. A few days ago it was announced that several live and online Global Series events have been canceled. Following the recent news, the entire Global Series has been postponed for an indefinite time. Here are some of the most recent events that are affected by the decision. The Commebol eLibertadores live event on March 7th-8th is canceled. The online qualifiers for the eChampions League event were held but the live event was postponed.
The FUT Champions Cup Stage V that was supposed to take place in Bucharest, Romania on April 3rd-5th is canceled too. The PlayStation Licensed event on May 2nd-3rd is also canceled. The decision was not an easy one. The organizers took multiple elements into consideration and eventually decided that safety comes first. The pandemic has spread over the entire globe and serious measurements are needed to stop it from affecting even more people.
The EA SPORTS staff in charge of the Global Series is in contact with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. They are also receiving advice from the World Health Organization. There is no word on when the competition will resume. All we know for now is that all Global Series events have been postponed. As you can see, this does not include only EA events but also events from partners such as the PlayStation Licensed event. This includes online events as well. EA SPORTS is committed to keeping the players, the community, and the staff as safe as possible.
In fact, not just the FUT 20 Global Series has been canceled. All upcoming EA events are canceled as well. Other competitions and gaming events have been postponed too.
Many companies didn't participate at the PAX East convention. E2 2020 which was scheduled to take place at the beginning of June was also canceled. So far, the Gamescom is still happening. The event is planned for the end of August so there's plenty of time before that. Hopefully, this convention will still go on as planned. Many gaming companies have shifted to a work from home schedule.
