Getting Better at CSGO – The Newbie Guide

CSGO is one of the most exciting games ever. Attracting millions of players per day, you probably know more than a few people that have entered the classic shooter. You may be somebody that wants to jump in yourself (the easiest way is to buy CSGO prime accounts). However, don’t expect to jump right in and start blasting the enemy right away. It is a tough FPS to master. Luckily for you, we’ve got a ton of tips that should help.

Focus On Just a Few Weapons

There are a lot of weapons in CSGO, and while you may want to test them all out, we suggest that you only focus on a few. They’ll be the easiest to control, and you may be able to nab a good headshot or two:

  • Tec-9 (Pistol)
  • Five-SeveN (Pistol)
  • P250 (Pistol)
  • AK-47 (Rifle)
  • M4A4 (Rifle)

You should be able to nail most of your enemies with these weapons in tow, which is awesome! In fact, these weapons are so great that the vast majority of players will never need to venture beyond them. You’ll probably be playing about with them for hundreds of hours before you touch another weapon.

Watch CSGO Streamers and YouTube Videos

If you want to succeed in CSGO2, then it is essential that you understand the maps and strategies. This is something that can be incredibly tough to pick up if you are playing the game yourself. So, we suggest that you watch as much CSGO2 content online as possible. There are tons of tutorial videos to watch, where you can get an idea of callouts on maps, places to shoot, etc.

Practice Your Shooting

Unfortunately, CSGO2 has removed a lot of the original shooting practice maps, and there’s no indication about when they will return. Luckily, there are plenty of shooter training games dotted around Steam that you can download and have a play about with.

Remember – there’s absolutely no chance of succeeding in CSGO2 unless you know how to shoot. So, learn how to shoot first. Until that happens, you’ll be constantly mowed down by the opposing team, and it isn’t going to be fun.

If you want to practice your shooting skills against real world opposition, then we suggest that you load up the deathmatch mode and fire away. Since it is not team-based, nobody will complain at you if you mess things up a little bit. You’ll still die a lot, though. However, get a few team deathmatch games under your belt, and your shooting will be so, so much better.

Alternatively, you can dabble in a few bot matches. However, we don’t really find that much fun, plus bots tend to be quite predictable, so eventually, you’ll struggle to not hit them.

Burst Fire

While experienced players can nail a headshot or two using single shot, this is not recommended for beginners. Instead, burst fire (hold the shoot button down). Aim toward the head, and there is a far, far bigger chance that you’ll score a headshot. If you don’t, that’s cool. The burst fire should deliver enough damage that it probably won’t matter too much.

Stay Still if Firing

Whenever you need to let off a shot, stop temporarily. Under absolutely no circumstances should you be running and gunning at the same time. You’ll have absolutely no accuracy.

The best players will only pause for a fraction of a second when they shoot, so practice doing that. Movement, stop, shoot, move again. Remember – you need to be constantly on the move when not shooting, otherwise you’ll just be a sitting duck for your opponent.

Grenades, Grenades, and More Grenades

A lot of CSGO players skip using grenades, which is awful since they have a huge amount of power behind them. So, if you’re new to the game, make sure that you use grenades:

  • Smoke grenades when you want to cloud the vision of your opponents.
  • Flashbangs will blind players, and are often used when you want to mow down an opponent before they can get a shot off.
  • Molotov deal fire damage, and will prevent your opponents getting close to your target.
  • HE Grenades are for raw power.
