Apex Legends x FFVII Collab Event (2024) Overview

Following the recent Apex Legends update, a noticeable influx of players has returned to dive right into the latest content and conquer new challenges. And for those who’ve been absent from the game, there’s the option to buy Apex account through U7BUY to jump straight into the action!

Today, we’ll venture into the details of the latest Apex Legends x Final Fantasy VII update, giving you a quick look into the fresh content, unlocks, skins, and other exciting additions to the immensely popular Battle Royale!

The event is scheduled to run through January 9th – January 30th, so you need to log in soon to experience the new stuff.

Let’s dive straight into it!

The All-New Buster Sword!

The most exciting addition to Apex Legends with the Final Fantasy VII Rebirth Event is the all-new Buster Sword R2R5.

While Apex Legends vets are used to the Heirloom ‘cosmetic’ melee weapons, the Buster Sword is an actual weapon that can be found on the ground or in Care Packages. It’s currently the only melee weapon in the game that adds a fantastic dynamic to matches.

The Buster Sword features all-new game mechanics including light and heavy melee attacks, guard blocks to defend against your enemies, a speedy dash to get up close, and a ‘Limit Break’ special move. You can combo it into a gnarly aerial attack that’s just so satisfying.

The more damage you deal, block, or take, the faster the Limit Break meter will charge. Once charged, you can activate the ‘Limit Break’ to increase speed and reduce incoming damage for 25 seconds, so you’ve got time to get close and personal to utterly devastate your foes.

New Takeover Game Mode

With the Final Fantasy VII collab event, there’s a new BR Takeover mode which replaces the standard Unranked Trios game mode. In this new game mode, you’ll have access to the Buster Sword R2R5, new ‘Materia’ Hop-Ups, Final Fantasy VII-themed décor in-game, and ‘Cacticks’ (Cactuar Ticks) scattered around the battlefield.

Final Fantasy VII Themed Skins & Cosmetics

As is the case with any Apex Legends event, there is a boatload of new cosmetics and skins to get your hands on. There are 36 items and cosmetics you can obtain from the Apex Legends & Final Fantasy VII Rebirth event packs.

This includes new Legendary gun skins, stickers, badges, banners, frames, holos, and other event items. Event packs also have a chance of rewarding the Mythic Buster Sword R5 Melee Cosmetic.

This can be equipped as an heirloom/fist replacement for all Legends. Unfortunately, the Buster Sword R5 is a timed exclusive and won’t be available in the Mythic Shop after the event ends so you need to start grinding ASAP!

Additionally, there are 6 new Iconic Legend skins for Wraith, Wattson, Crypto, Newcastle, Valkyrie, and Horizon themed around iconic and beloved Final Fantasy VII characters.

Game-Changing Materia Hop-Ups

Other than cosmetics and themed gameplay elements, the new Final Fantasy VII event also brings new Hop-Ups themed as the iconic ‘Materia’ from the Final Fantasy universe. These Hop-Ups are exclusive to select weapons and give players unique boosts.

Here’s a rundown on the five new Materia and their effects on supported weapons:

Exclusive Gil & Rewards

As you play through the new Final Fantasy Takeover event, you’ll earn ‘Gil’ which can be used to purchase time-limited event items in the Reward Shop.

Completing matches and daily challenges will earn you Gil which can help round out your collection from the FFVII collab.

If you manage to obtain everything from the Apex Legends x Final Fantasy VII Rebirth collection, you’ll be awarded the One-Winged Angel Death Box. This can be equipped by any Legend and will change the Death Box for enemies you’ve defeated.

Gil can also be used to add to this season’s Battle Pass Stars in case you’ve run out of items to purchase with your hard-earned Gil.
