Genshin Impact Kuki Shinobu Is Secretly OP

Arataki Itto might be a 5-star and the leader of the infamous Arataki Gang, but we all know that Kuki Shinobu Genshin is the real star of the show (Sorry Itto, my beloved).

Calling her “Secretly” op might be a bit of a stretch since most decent players and YouTubers know how good she is. Built with Elemental Mastery in mind and with teams that focus on Hyperbloom/Aggravate/Quicken, she can dominate enemies and the Abyss with very little investment. So, let’s see what makes her so good.

It’s worth noting that she gets significantly better with constellations, so the next time she is featured on an Event Banner, you might consider using Genshin Impact top up services to make sure you get her at C6.

Genshin Impact Kuki Shinobu Character Archetype.

Move over Itto, the real Queen of the Arataki Gang is here

Hoyoverse tried to pull the wool over everyone’s eyes and make us believe that Kuki Shinobu Genshin is a “Healer”, but she’s actually a monstrous damage dealer that can sometimes be better than 5-star Genshin Impact characters that are supposed to fill that role, like Cyno (Sorry Cyno, my beloved).

The main reason why most people thought she was bad and just an “Average” healer was mainly due to the fact that most of her kit revolves around MAX HP scaling and healing – her Elemental Skill: Sanctifying Ring – Heals On-Field allies by a % of Shinobu’s own MAX HP and deals “Negligible” damage.

However, one thing that everyone failed to notice is that her Elemental Skill pulses every 1.5 Seconds and has virtually no downtime. This means that she can apply Electro, off-field, non-stop. This is a 4-Star unit we’re talking about, and if we include her second Constellation that adds 3 seconds to her E duration, the skill then lasts for more than its cooldown timer is.

This makes her a great Electro-applicator, maybe even better than Fischl, and she can fit into a lot of different teams – either as a healer or an EM-based damage dealer.

Genshin Impact Kuki Shinobu Full Kit

Here we’ll talk more about everything that Genshin Kuki has to offer, including her “exact” scaling numbers. The numbers shown here will assume that each talent/skill/etc. is at level 10.

Elemental Skill

As we’ve already discussed, Genshin Impact Kuki’s skill is “Sanctifying Ring”. The skill has 3 parts:

  • Skill Activation: Deals 136.28% DMG
  • Healing: Heals the active character for 5.4% of Kuki’s MAX HP + 635.61 Base HP per Pulse
  • Continuous Damage: Each Pulse Additionally Deals 45.43% of Kuki’s ATK as AOE dmg and applies Electro.

The base duration is 12 seconds with the cooldown being 15. If you unlock her C2, the skill gains 3 Seconds of Duration and equates to 10 Pulses of Damage, making her deal a total of ~450% DMG, which isn’t at all bad – but the best part is that it applies electro so reliably well.

Elemental Burst

Gyoei Narukami Kariyama Rite – Her ultimate is pretty basic. It deals continuous Electro damage in an AOE and if Genshin Kuki has 50% or less HP at the time of casting, the damage increases by about 50%. This works well in tandem with her Elemental Skill because it draws 30% of Kuki’s HP when cast.

Gyoei Narukami Kariyama Rite deals 7 Instances of 6.5% MAX HP damage when above 50% HP and 12 Instances of the same damage when under 50% HP, dealing 45% or 78% of Kuki’s MAX HP, respectively.

Her C1, To Cloister Compassion, increases the AOE of her ultimate by a massive 50%.

Additional Note: If you can get Genshin Impact Kuki at C6, you should definitely try to go for it as she becomes a lot better with constellations. If you really want her but know she won’t be featured on an Event banner soon, you should consider buying a Genshin Impact account that has her.

Genshin Impact Kuki Shinobu Build and Mainstats

Now, her Burst damage scaling with HP and her Skill healing scaling with the same stat might lead you to believe that she’s better built with MAX HP as her main stat, but this couldn’t be further from the truth.

While MAX HP can’t hurt, if you want to bring the most out of Kuki, you’ll want to have Elemental Mastery as your main stat on the artifacts that can have it (Sands, Goblet, and Circlet).

Now, there’s nothing wrong with building Genshin Kuki as a healer specifically, but in our opinion, it is somewhat wasteful because she is otherwise a great off-field DPS that’s easy to build and doesn’t require much investment, since using only Elemental Mastery artifacts can get her to destroy enemies pretty quickly.

Best Artifact Set

Pro Tip: You can see what the most used sets for any character are by clicking the small icon in the bottom right corner of the Artifact Equip screen as shown in the image below:

And, as you can see – her two best sets are Gilded Dreams and the recently added Flower of Paradise Lost.

Both of these are equally good, however. They amount to about the same damage done to Genshin Kuki. You should choose which one of these sets to farm based on the other artifact set from their domains, or – depending on if you need the Anemo-based set from the same domain that Flower of Paradise Lost drops or the Dendro-based set that drops from the same domain where Gilded Dreams drops.

Either way, the first set you get the triple EM mainstay for is the winner.

Genshin Impact Kuki Best Weapon

Genshin Kuki can use any EM mainstay sword pretty well. Her best options are:

  • Freedom Sworn
  • Iron Sting
  • Xiphos’ Moonlight

Genshin Impact Kuki’s Best Teams.

While Genshin Impact Kuki works best in Hyperbloom teams, she can work as an Aggravate DPS as well. However, this team/build isn’t recommended because it needs significantly more investment.

As for Hyperbloom Teams, there are plenty of examples:

  • Genshin Impact Kuki Shinobu, Xingqiu, Kaedahara Kazuha, Dendro Traveler
  • Genshin Impact Kuki Shinobu, Yelan, Kaedahara Kazuha, Nahida
  • Genshin Impact Kuki Shinobu, Xinqqiu, Sucrose, Collei

Conclusion

Genshin Kuki Shinobu is a great character that you can build with little to no investment. In the game where high-investment Genshin Impact characters come out often, newer players should consider first building up decent teams like the Genshin Xiangling National and Kuki Hyperbloom that consist of 4 cost units that can work without any 5-Star Weapons or characters to more easily clear some of the more difficult content in Genshin Impact.

As always, consider using the best Genshin Impact shop to get the most out of your purchases.
