Getting The “Real” End-Game Of Genshin Impact

Let’s start off with this: Genshin Impact is a really, REALLY good game. It wouldn’t be the highest-grossing game time over time if that wasn’t the case. However, another statement that could be equally true to the first one would be this “Genshin Impact is a game for casuals” – now, whether or not you agree with this doesn’t matter since it could be said that it is “objectively” true, considering that even the Abyss Floor 12 can be beaten with relatively minimal investment and playtime.

Now, even if that wasn’t the case – the Abyss part of Genshin is such a small droplet in the vast amount of content that they put out that it wouldn’t even matter if it was super hard to beat – and even then, you could just buy a lot of Genesis Crystals and pull for C6 5 star characters and Rank 5 weapons to easily beat all the content Genshin offers. However, some good news seems to be on the horizon for those of us who wish to see Hoyoverse add some new goals to pursue within Genshin Impact other than just beating the story and exploring the world and content sprinkled with some fun events in between.

There Is Hope on the Horizon

As bad as Genshin’s endgame is (and we’ll talk more about that down below), there seems to finally be some hope after the fanbase has been begging Hoyoverse to add a permanent, difficult game mode to the game. Namely, there have been job postings for some type of UGC, or User-Generated Content, on the Hoyoverse job website. They are searching for people to help them with this content, but whether they’re looking for programmers/developers or people to create maps/events/challenges as if it was Fortnite Creative Mode or something similar to Warcraft III Custom Maps remains to be seen.

The Doom

A lot of people seem to be saying that this won’t be enough. That user-generated content won’t be the same as if Hoyoverse added the content themselves with Primogem rewards attached. However, what if that wasn’t the case? What if this system ends up being capable of providing the much-needed challenge that people have wanted for a while now, AND with certain rewards (weekly or daily) attached to it? We fully believe that if this ends up being a new permanent game mode, Hoyoverse will find a way to reward players – and if it ends up being User-Generated Content, then there will always be those sadistic players and creators who will try to make the most challenging content possible in fun and creative ways.

Problems With Genshin Impact Endgame

As previously mentioned, the main issue with Genshin’s endgame content is that there is none. A lot of players want something to challenge them – to give them reasons to keep playing the game and to keep getting their teams stronger and more powerful aside from just slightly faster clearing the content that they could already easily do.

Issue 1 – Spiral Abyss Difficulty

Now, for newer players, the Spiral Abyss is nothing to scoff at. It presents a long-term goal to strive for and when you finally reach that full 12 Floor clear for the first time it feels quite amazing. However, that feeling quickly vanes as you realize that the Spiral Abyss was never that difficult and your characters and teams aren’t even half as strong as they could potentially be… and if you’d ever reach that height, you’d find the Abyss as easy as clearing a Hilichurl camp. You could even get accounts through the best place to buy Genshin accounts and get power that way even to make things even easier.

Issue 2 – No Goals To Strive For

Attaching to issue 1, once you clear the Spiral Abyss for the first time, you’ll realize that there is basically nothing to present a “real” challenge for you anymore. Sure, some of the weekly bosses can be quite challenging – but the Abyss is slightly more difficult than even they are, and if you have a team that could clear it, then those same weekly bosses won’t present that much of a challenge either.

Issue 3 – No Reason To Keep Playing (For the Hardcore players)

If you don’t really enjoy the story or exploration that much, once you beat the Spiral Abyss and build 2-3 full teams to make them pretty strong, then you’ll most likely lose the will to play as much as you did while you were building up to that Spiral Abyss 12 Floor Clear. Not to mention that even with minimal investment as a F2P you could create a team that can clear the hardest content in the game, something like the Xiangling National, consisting of Xiangling, Xingqiu, Bennet, and Sucrose – all of which are 4-Star characters that can easily use 3 or 4-star weapons.

If there’s no reason to get your team stronger, then why keep playing? Why keep trying to challenge yourself to new heights?

Conclusion

Whether or not this new game mode will be enough to bring some fresh new air to Genshin Impact as a new end-game activity remains to be seen. However, many users and content creators seem to think that with Wuthering Waves on the horizon, this might be the cue that Hoyoverse needed to finally step up their game. Even if it ends up being easier than predicted and even if you can top up your Genshin account through the Genshin shop and buy the craziest and strongest characters available, this new end-game might be enough to tide us over until something similar, but more difficult than the Spiral Abyss appears.
