That said, let’s get straight into the breakdown!

The New Shadow Force-Themed Mode

The brand-new Shadow Force Themed Mode is one of the most exciting additions to the latest PUBG Mobile update. The new game mode is a more ‘dynamic’ battle royale focusing on movement and fast-paced close-quarters combat.

Shadow Force is available on three maps –

  • Erangel
  • Livik
  • Sanhok

New Respawn Battle Mechanic

Additionally, a new mechanic called ‘Respawn Battle’ is available but it’s exclusive to the Erangel map. Players defeated within the first 8 minutes of a match will get a chance to respawn.

Once eliminated, players are transported to an isolated island to have a ‘Respawn Battle’ with other eliminated players. In the isolated zone, players will find ‘Respawn Points’ that will activate at intervals with a randomized location.

If you’re lucky enough to reach a Respawn Point and complete the interaction within the time limit, you’ll get another chance and respawn in the main match.

In Respawn Battle, players can also find a unique ‘Emergency Respawn’ item that will immediately return eliminated players back onto the battlefield! However, players will only be able to enter the battleground once per match.

Unless you have a ‘Respawn Card’ which will immediately revive you in the match. Get eliminated again within the 8-minute time frame, and you’ll get a shot in the Respawn Battle to revive one more time.

New Unique Items

In Shadow Force, players will have access to a few unique items that’ll change the dynamic of a match –

Shadow Blade

Shadow Blade is a new melee weapon exclusive to the Shadow Force mode. In most cases, players can find a Shadow Blade within new themed buildings around the map. The uber-cool samurai sword has a few unique abilities –

  • Melee slashes emit an ‘aura’ that can hit close-range enemies
  • An additional ‘Draw’ skill to quickly close the distance and rush toward enemies with a slash
  • Unique passive ‘Assault Blade’ which automatically deflects any shots from the front for a short duration

This new Shadow Blade is an incredibly powerful melee weapon that gives ‘melee’ a real shot against enemies firing from range.

The Skytether Hook

In addition to the Shadow Blade, players can also find the Skytether Hook, a grappling hook that makes it easy to quickly maneuver around the battlefield and scale buildings. This is an excellent tool to set up ambushes from up above on unsuspecting enemies.

You can also combo it into a parachute deploy to glide through the air which is useful for navigating higher terrains.

Proxy Scout

The Proxy Scout is a throwable item that creates a remotely controllable decoy clone of your character. To enemy players, it will look exactly like your character which can confuse or distract them while your teammates pick them off.

The clone can use the Skytether Hook and run around, but it cannot attack or shoot in any way. However, if an enemy player finds and kills the clone, it will trigger a detonation in its vicinity to blow away enemies.

But keep in mind once you’ve activated the Proxy Scout, your main body will be vulnerable and motionless. Make sure to camp out at a safe spot to prevent enemies from killing you while you’re controlling the decoy.

Additionally, these areas – Prison, Georgopol, and Yasnaya Polyana have new buildings with updated designs and features. There are a few more routes and ways to quickly traverse the buildings, and they can contain Supply Warehouses and Camo Doors that are stocked with supplies!
