Final Fantasy XIV Updates and Rumors

As we eagerly await the release of the Dawntrail expansion this summer, Final Fantasy XIV continues to release patches for its gaming community. Let’s take a look at what changes these have brought to the game and the other news surrounding the future of the popular MMORPG.

Final Fantasy XIV Downtrail Update

There’s no question about it: we’re all pretty excited about Dawntrail. The upcoming expansion promises to be thrilling, taking us to the new continent of Tural, where the story revolves around determining the next ruler of the land. The update will also bring with it a much-needed graphical overhaul, new raid content, and a female Hrothgar, amongst other things.

However, we’ll have to wait until June for the Dawntrail expansion. In the meantime, let’s make do with the latest updates coming out for Square Enix’s MMORPG.

Patch 6.58

The latest patch for Final Fantasy XIV has fixed the following bugs and issues:

  • On some occasions, Estinen used to be missing from the main hall in the Baldesion Annex in The Satrap of Radz-at-Han Quest.
  • Some actions would not work in the duty of Alexander: The Burden of the Son (Savage).
  • Damage of the action Height Error was not downscaled during the duty of Alexander: The Burden of the Son.
  • Players were not able to repurchase the Thug’s Mug upon completion of the Breaking Brick Mountains quest.
  • The Crystalline Conflict Map would display even when players turned off the relevant setting in the HUD Layout menu.

Let’s now talk more about the gameplay-specific changes that the new patch has brought. Perhaps the most notable change has occurred in the Abyssal Fracture trial. For one, it will now be found in the Duty Finder instead of the Raid Finder. Secondly, the drop rate for the Lynx of Abyssal Grief Flute has had yet another boost, so you’re likely to find this lying around more often.

Other major changes include the following:

  • There is no longer a weekly restriction on acquiring the Unsung Blades of Anabaseios.
  • More strength will be attained in Pandaemonium: Anabaseios.
  • There will no longer be any weekly limits on the rewards granted through treasure coffers and Thaleia coins.
  • EXP gained from the NPCs in the Tower of Zot, Tower of Babil, Vanaspati, Ktisis Hyperborean, and the Aitiascope has increased.
  • Damage potency for the Confiteor, Blade of Faith, Blade of Truth, and Blade of Valor PvP actions has received a significant increase.

Final Fantasy XIV for Xbox Series X/S

In a move that has been demanded by the Xbox community for ages, the MMORPG is finally launching on the Xbox Series consoles. The open beta was launched a while back, and the positive response has led to the game being officially announced to be coming to the platform on March 21.

According to the official sources, the following will be made available to the Xbox community:

  • Online Starter Edition comprises the Realm Reborn, Heavensward, and Stormblood expansions.
  • Endwalker, featuring the Shadowbringers and Endwalker expansions.
  • Endwalker Collector’s Edition, which adds in-game bonuses to the former version.
  • Online Complete Edition, which includes the features found in all of the above versions.
  • Online Complete Collector’s Edition features all of the above plus additional in-game bonuses for each expansion pack.

Feeling unsure of whether the game is worth the big bucks? Fortunately for you, the developers are releasing a free online trial for the Xbox. The best part? The trial is not timed and allows you to access some of the content from the Heavensward, A Realm Reborn, and Stormblood expansions.

A notable change to the Xbox version of the game is that it will feature a new currency. The so-called FFXIV Coin will take some of the spotlight from the FFXIV Gil. While we don’t know how much this new currency will cost in real bucks, Square Enix has stated that it will be used to make purchases on the Mog Station as well as the Online Store for items such as costumes and weapons.

Another good piece of news for the Xbox community is that their reward points from the Microsoft Rewards scheme can also be used to acquire these new FFXIV Coins. So, if you have any spare change lying around, be sure to cash in!

Conclusion

Making its way to the Xbox Series consoles is the perfect evidence that Final Fantasy XIV continues to go strong in 2024. The hype is only going to grow stronger once the new Dawntrail expansion comes out, so stay tuned for more updates. If you happen to own an Xbox and still haven’t played the game, there’s no better time to start!
