New World Season of The Guardian Update

To the dismay of the New World community, the Season Of The Guardian was not released on March 12 as promised. Instead, Amazon Games has indefinitely delayed the release after receiving feedback through the PTR (Public Test Realm). While we eagerly wait for the new release date, here’s everything you need to know to get up to speed.

Introduction

The fifth season of New World—Season of the Guardian—promises an engaging experience, both in terms of gameplay and immersion. We have so much to look forward to, including the following:

  • A new seasonal trial in the form of the Winter Rune Forge
  • Updates to the Main Story Quest
  • Seasonal events comprising the Rabbit’s Revenge and Springtide Bloom

However, initial tests have revealed several shortcomings with the new season and prompted the developers to take a step backward and streamline the entire thing. Let’s take a look at some of the reasons the release date is being pushed back.

Issues with the New Artifacts

Everyone’s favorite New World items are probably artifacts. Use them right, and they’ll help you farm so many coins that you won’t have to go online to buy New World gold.

It’s safe to say most of us were pretty excited about the eight new artifacts confirmed to feature in the Season of the Guardian. This would have allowed us to experiment with different playstyles. We’ll have to wait a bit longer, though, because players have found issues with three of these artifacts. These are discussed in the following segments.

Phoenix Amulet

The issue lies specifically with the Phoenix Vengeance perk. Originally, this would allow players to become invulnerable for 2 seconds after receiving fatal damage, but players felt this would give healers and ranged DPS an unfair edge. This prompted an increase in the timer to 4 seconds; however, players were still unsatisfied.

Hoping to make it more balanced, Amazon Games has now said that upon getting fatally hit, you’ll regain full health, which will then decay 12% each second until you die. They are open to changing this, though, so let them know your thoughts on this modification!

Venom Spear

The poison-tipped trait of this artifact would cause a heavy attack from either of your weapons to deal 20% weapon damage for 5 seconds. However, players complained that this would make it too overpowered and thus should only work with melee attacks. This will be implemented when the season comes.

Nature’s Wrath Chestwear

While the developers have acknowledged that a large number of fans do not approve of the Nature’s Blessing trait, they believe that the number isn’t high enough to warrant a change at this stage. Don’t worry though; they’ll be taking a closer look once the season comes out to see if any changes are necessary.

Controller Support

Hate playing with a keyboard? One of the major talking points of the new season was the introduction of controller support to the game. This would allow players to choose from two preset layouts and enjoy features such as aim assist, target friction, and freeform movement.

While no major complaints were received regarding this from the PTR, some people felt that the system wasn’t perfect. Amazon Games has vowed to take this into account and make improvements, as well as add features such as custom controlling mapping to make the controller experience seamless.

Upgraded Combat and Animation System

Similarly, to make the gameplay experience more immersive, especially in high-traffic areas, the developers planned to improve the combat and animation systems. However, the PTR has revealed several bugs, one of the many reasons that the release date of the new season has gone back.

Cooking trade skill

You may be a master chef, but even you must have faced difficulty with the increased number of resources required to cook up the perfect dish. Thankfully, the requirements for 3 dishes will be dialed down to 5 to 3 materials, making it easier for you to cook up a storm.

Additionally, if you are a fan of seafood, you’ll be delighted to know that the number of fish spawning at fishing hotspots will increase as well. Cooking has never been easier!

Conclusion

We get it; it’s normal to be frustrated by the new season’s delay. But we should acknowledge that the developers are making the effort to create the best possible experience for us. That’s going to take some time, but let’s hope we can get our hands on the Season of the Guardian and all the exciting changes and New World items that come with it as soon as possible.
