Identity V 6 Beginner Tips

Whether you play as the Identity V hunter or the hunted, every match in Identity V is an absolute thrill fest. Ideally, though, you want to win as many matches as possible. Here are some tips for you to do just that, no matter who you play as. The best part is that you don’t need to pay for the Identity V top up!

Playing as a Survivor

Playing as a survivor is a true test of your wits, teamwork, and, of course, a bit of luck as well. Let’s take a look at some pointers to get you going in the right direction.

Flip the Script with Tide Turner

As the name suggests, the Tide Turner can really change the complexion of the match. It’s going to take you some time to unlock it on the Persona Web, though, so you might want to start collecting those talent points as soon as possible.

Once you’ve selected Tide Turner, you and the survivor you rescue from the chair will become invulnerable to the Identity V hunter’s attacks for 20 seconds. Pretty neat for buying yourselves some time!

One important thing to note is that although you won’t immediately take damage, it will accumulate and take effect once Tide Turner runs out. Oh, and you can only use it once during the match.

Constant Communication

Note this down somewhere: you won’t get very far as a survivor if you don’t keep in touch with your teammates. Whether it’s to alert the others to the proximity of the Identity V hunters or to send out your general location to your team, it’s imperative that you communicate constantly.

Feeling shy and don’t feel like talking on the mic? You can always turn on Quick Messages from the settings menu.

Keep Healing

Quite often, we forget that there’s a reason there’s one of them and four of you. Keep an eye out for your teammates and heal them! Ignore another’s cry for help, and chances are you’ll be getting the same treatment when it’s your turn. Not to mention that healing makes more time for you, as Identity V hunters will have to spend longer chasing others around, leaving you to work on the ciphers.

Playing as a Hunter

We’ve looked at how to play as a survivor; how about when you’re on the other side? Well, firstly, you need to think like a survivor, so keep the tips above in mind. On top of that, there’s some other stuff you can do.

Target Nearby Ciphers

So you’ve been chasing a survivor, lose track of them, and decide to stay close to the nearest cipher. Is that really the best idea? Sure, it’s tempting, but a better strategy is to focus on 2-3 ciphers that are close to one another. This way, you can quickly move from one to the other instead of being drawn to the edges of the map, where you can’t catch survivors as easily. If you want to get your hands on all the different Identity V characters and cosmetics unlocked, you can always buy an IDV account and get access to everything you want without having to grind for it yourself.

Make the most of Traits

Traits can change the tide of the game, so the first step is figuring out which one works best for you. Then, you need to devise strategies to use them effectively; don’t just blast them randomly! For instance, going by the example of the three nearby ciphers above, you can place a Peeper near one of the machines. This will highlight any survivor that comes close and can come in real handy towards the end of the game.

Similarly, you can use Blink and Teleport to move quickly between the machines. But you need to time these just right, as they have quite a long cooldown!

Devise a strategy for Chairs

You have so much room to experiment here, depending on the time in the game and your active trait. Which chairs do you want to fill up? One strategy could be to target one of the three cipher machines you chose to defend earlier. Doing so will give survivors the impression that you are nearby and thus repel them to other machines, where you can then catch them.

Alternatively, you could fill the chair in the basement, which will decrease the chances of the survivor ever getting out. Find out what works best for you, and do it!

Conclusion

You’ll be piling up those wins in no time now! Oh, and just one more tip: you can always buy more characters from the in-game Identity V Shop called the Illusion Hall. This will give you unique gameplay characteristics, which might just give you the edge you’re looking for.
