You can raise the usual livestock such as chickens, pigs, cows, and more. These animals will be able to give you special products to sell and trade in. But what about exotic animals?
That’s right. You are able to raise exotic animals on Hay Day, or at least kind of. In town, you can repair and unlock the Sanctuary in order to start collecting animals and feeding them. Doing this will be able to give you some extra experience points to help you level up. The way to feed them is similar to how you would to your farm animals, but how do you even get the Sanctuary in the first place?
To access the Wildlife Sanctuary, you will need to first reach reputation level 3. Levels can be built up in multiple different ways. The main method is through selling and trading, which can be done from near the beginning of the game. Reputation can also be gained through completing quests in the town.
When you first enter the Sanctuary, you will find its book stand in shambles. This stand is important for getting the Sanctuary up and running. Not only will you need to reach reputation level 3, but also have pieces of land on your farm connected to it for access. After that, the book stand can be repaired using 10,000 coins and takes 4 hours to complete.
When you complete the book stand repairs, the Sanctuary will be started up. You will even get a free random exotic animal as a reward! These animals can be fed daily to earn extra experience points, but this is entirely optional. Otherwise, all exotic animals are entirely self-maintenance but make for adorable members of your farm.
In order to collect and unlock more animals, that is where the book stand comes into play. The book showcases all of the possible animals that you can collect and which ones you already have throughout the game. To unlock one requires Puzzle Pieces. These pieces can be earned through events like derbies or earned through items like Mystery Boxes.
Each animal at the Sanctuary requires 36 Puzzle Pieces in total. Whenever you have completed an animal puzzle in the book on the book stand, there is still another requirement that is needed. Each animal type needs a house to stay in which can be bought at the shop. Once it has been bought and placed, the animal can move there for free.
For all of the exotic animals, there is a variety of versions for each species. This can include having the baby versions of the animal, to a different color or type entirely. These must also be unlocked through the Puzzle Piece collecting method. After that, the animal house that it correlates with and upgrades it. Thankfully the upgrade is free and finishes instantly.
Besides being able to feed your exotic animals in the Sanctuary, you will also have special visitors. These NPCs will come near the Sanctuary with a paw print marker over their head. When tapping on them, the player will be able to check out what animal the visitor would like to see. If you have said animal, then the visitor will go over to see it for a short amount of time.
Having multiple animals in your Sanctuary is important for being able to have as many visitors as possible. This is because each visitor will give the player a gift placed on the book stand after it’s done viewing your animal. The gift can be in a range from just coins to important supplies that you could use on your farm. Do keep in mind however that these visitors can only come to your Sanctuary after unlocking the EGG spress train first.
Hay Day is known to have a large number of unique animals you can raise on your farm as you build it up. The Wildlife Sanctuary is an extension to the livestock giving you products by not only having cool designs and a large collection of exotic creatures but also allowing the player to earn more rewards along the way. The Wildlife Sanctuary is a great place to not just collect more experience with the more animals you have and feed on the daily, but to have special gifts arrive from your happy visitors.
