Xbox Games Hitting PlayStation 5 and Switch in 2024

In a move that was hotly anticipated over the last month or so, Microsoft has announced that four of their games will be hitting PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch in 2024 and has refused to rule out that more games won’t be coming a bit later on down the line.

We’ll let you know which four games are hitting the platforms, plus give you a bit of a lowdown on what could happen in the future.

Pentiment

Pentiment, from Obsidian Entertainment, is a narrative adventure game. It is already out on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and Nintendo Switch.

Pentiment is one of the highest-rated games from Xbox Game Studios in a while (and no doubt how a lot of people ended up spending their Xbox gift cards)

Pentiment is a little different from some of the other games that Microsoft has opted to bring over, because it is so slow and casual, sort of. It isn’t going to be everybody’s cup of tea, but we reckon anybody who loves a good narrative will love it.

We reckon that Pentiment will be especially popular on the Nintendo Switch since it is a rather low-intensity game and the sort of thing that you can just pick up and play whenever.

Hi-Fi Rush

Hi-Fi Rush was in the running for ‘Game of the Year’ back in 2023, at least in some people’s minds. It was a ‘surprise’ release, launching exactly the same day it was announced.

Hi-Fi Rush is a rhythm-based game where you tap buttons, fighting enemies to music. It is one of the more unique games to come from Bethesda Softworks over the last few years, so it was no surprise that so many people fell in love with it instantly.

If you’re in the mood for a game with some amazing music, unique gameplay, and a short game experience, albeit one that is highly repeatable on higher settings, then Hi-Fi Rush might be right up your street.

It is only available on PlayStation 5, although there are some indications that it may be hitting Switch 2 (launching in 2025, apparently), so keep an eye out for it in that format too.

Grounded

Grounded will be coming to PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and Nintendo Switch. You’ll need to wait until April 16th to play it, though. If you’ve already played the game on Xbox (perhaps bought by using an Xbox gift card US), then you’ll be pleased to know that Grounded is cross-platform, so you can play with your friends no matter what format they are on.

Grounded is one of the better survival games around, where you play a small child that has been shrunk down to insect height. You’ll then have to build a base, fight insects (some of them incredibly scary), and try to work out how to make yourself full-sized again. You’ve got hundreds of hours of entertainment right there, even before you start to dabble in creative modes.

Sea of Thieves

This is probably the game most people are most excited about from the four games currently announced. It will hit PlayStation 5 on April 30th.

Sea of Thieves is an online co-op game where you can team up with a pirate crew to sail the mythical ‘Sea of Thieves’ picking up treasure, battling skeletons & monsters, or attacking other pirates in the shared world.

If you’ve got a few friends to play with (and this game is cross-platform too), then Sea of Thieves will be epic for you. In fact, it may even be epic as a solo player.

The Future of Xbox Multi-Platform Games

As we said – Microsoft has stated that only four games will be coming to other platforms now (in addition to the games they have released in the past, i.e. Minecraft), but it is something that could change going forward.

We do think that other Xbox games will be hitting these platforms over the years. However, we doubt that any of them will be day-and-date releases. Microsoft will likely want to claw as much cash from their own platforms (especially Game Pass) before they do this. We expect games to come a year or two down the line.

So, if you own an Xbox, we wouldn’t worry too much about needing to give up your hardware just yet (Microsoft has already committed to making new hardware anyway), so don’t worry about picking up UK Xbox gift card from us here at U7buy.com. We have some of the best prices around, and you may even get yourself a fantastic deal if you’re planning on playing on Game Pass too!
