Exploring Valorant Maps from Sunset to Split

Every VALORANT match takes place on a map. Most maps feature a spawn area for each team, barriers that limit the areas accessible during the buy phase for Plant/Disable game modes, and target locations where the spike will be planted.

At the moment there are 10 core maps in the game, with an additional one for players to practice and train, called The Range, and three smaller maps destined for team deathmatch, called Piazza, District, and Kasbah. These three are based on the bigger maps Ascent, Split, and Bind respectively and we expect more to come soon.

Sunset

The latest addition to the Valorant map roster, Sunset is a map located in Los Angeles, California. It could be described as a more traditional map, with three lanes and two sites. Its special addition is a mechanical door found between B Market and Mid Courtyard. Players can use a switch on the Market side of the door to either close or open the door This door is impenetrable while closed but has 500 HP, allowing players to damage it. Once destroyed, the doorway will remain permanently open for the rest of the round.

Lotus

Lotus is the ninth map to be released in Valorant and is located in Karnataka, India. It contains multiple features spread out across the map and it’s VALORANT’s second three-site map.

Two of the map’s features are present at the back of A Site. A rope ascender and a drop that communicate both A Site and A Top.

A unique feature of Lotus is its rotating doorways. It has one on A Side standing between A Main and A Tree, and another on C Side standing between C Mound and B Main.

A destructible wall also stands between A Main and A Link.

Pearl

The eighth map to arrive on the Valorant roster, Pearl is located in Lisbon, Portugal.

It’s a two-site, three-lane map that reminds us of the more traditional map design of other tactical shooters since it has no additional dynamic elements or mechanical hooks for gameplay.

Fracture

Fracture is the seventh map to be released in Valorant. Located in Santa Fe, New Mexico, it could be considered one of the most innovative maps in the Valorant roster.

The main map gimmick is the two parallel one-way ziplines that bisect the map. These ziplines do not act like ziplines found on other maps due to them crossing over an out-of-bounds region.

Additionally, A Hall contains an automatic door that works similarly to the exit room doors for Bind’s teleporters, as it will instantly open once a player gets close enough.

Breeze

The sixth map to arrive at Valorant, Breeze is located in The Bermuda Triangle, Atlantic Ocean.

Its features are present mainly on the A side of the map, mostly to do with A Hall with ropes to get players into it.

A Site also has an impenetrable, indestructible mechanical door leading into A Hall that can be opened and closed using switches on either side.

Icebox

Icebox is the fifth map to be released in Valorant, located in Sakha, Russia.

It is the first map to introduce a horizontal zipline in A site. The spike can also be planted either on the floor or over different map structures called nests, found in both bomb sites.

Ascent

Ascent is the fourth map to be released in Valorant, and it is located in Venice, Italy.

Its main mechanic consists of two doors, one located in each bomb site, designed to be closed from the defensive site to difficult the attackers’ main objective which is to take the site. Once activated, this can only be opened by destroying them, each door has 500HP.

The two walls separating the Courtyard from the Link also have a destructible panel each to cover them. Whilst intact, they absorb damage and cannot be penetrated by gunfire. The panels however have 400 HP each.

Bind

Bind is one of the Original Valorant maps, located in Rabat, Morocco. Its main features are the two one-way teleporters located at A short and at B long, which facilitate players the option to fastly rotate between both sites. It’s also important to mention that it does not have a mid-section, unlike the rest of the Valorant maps.

Haven

One of the first available Valorant maps, Haven, located in Thimphu, Bhutan, is the first map with three bomb sites, a surprising feature for those players coming from other first-person shooters.

It does not present players with any other new mechanics, but for its time, three sites was a big innovation.

Split

Split, located in Tokyo, Japan, is one of the initial Valorant maps. It is the first map to use vertical ziplines or ascenders. There are three sets on the map, two that allow players to get up from Sewer to A Lobby, one that allows players to get up from B Hell to B Tower, and four that allow players to navigate through Vents.

Each map introduces unique features and challenges, adding layers of strategy to every match. Whether you’re navigating the dynamic doorways of Sunset, experiencing the innovation of Fracture’s one-way zip lines, or embracing the classic design of Pearl, Valorant’s map roster offers a rich tapestry of gameplay.
