How To Play Genshin Impact Arlecchino

No, this won’t be a guide about what her best weapon, best artifacts, best teams are – although we will mention those by proxy – this will be a guide about “gameplay” – tips on how to do well in combat, some “hidden” mechanics and optimal rotations based on what team you’re playing her in. P.S. – She’s best at C1 and with her Signature weapon, so make sure you pull for those when you can! Using top Up Genshin services can help with this.

Genshin Impact Arlecchino’s Kit and Basic Mechanics

So, Arlecchino Genshin is pretty unique in that she cannot be healed by anything other than her Burst while in combat. This is a major drawback, but a hidden blessing in disguise since this passive also gives her a 40% Pyro DMG bonus on top of already meaningful scaling Basic Attack and Burst.

Her main mechanic is “Bond of Life” and depending on how well you manage it will be the difference between doing insane numbers and mid-tier damage.

Aside from that, she is a “Basic Attack” character for the most part, similar to Cyno and Wanderer.

Bond of Life

To understand how to play Genshin Arlecchino, we need to understand her Bond of Life mechanic… so what is it?

It’s a mechanic more or less unique to Genshin Impact Arlecchino. Other characters can acquire Bond of Life through her weapon, but the effect can only be triggered once every 14 seconds and it’s not worth it because there are many better Polearms for characters you’d use it on.

Now, how does Bond of Life work? Whenever Arlecchino Genshin Impact uses her Skill (E), she will apply an “X” shaped mark to enemies. You consume this mark by using a charge attack to gain a Bond of Life worth 65% of her Max HP per mark consumed up to 165% of her Max HP. This is worded weirdly, but more on that later.

While Arlecchino Genshin has a bond of life greater than 30% of her Max HP, she will gain a Pyro Infusion on all attacks – Normal, Charged, Plunging.

Her Normal, Charged, and Plunging Attack damage will scale additionally depending on how much Bond of Life she has, and her attacks while in that state will consume Bond of Life per attack.

Tips and Tricks

So, there’s not a lot here – but there is an important mechanic that is somewhat omitted from the game.

“Arlecchino can’t sustain a bond of life on single targets!” – This is not true, but as stated above – the game doesn’t tell you how to deal with this. There is, in fact, a hidden mechanic that lets you absorb Bond of Life to the max on a single opponent. How?

When you apply the “Blood-Debt Directive” debuff (the X-shaped mark) on an enemy, it can stay there and fester for a little bit. Once it’s on an enemy for 5 seconds, it will deal some negligible damage and grow in size – this is akin to a flower blooming.

When you consume this mark, you gain a lot more Bond of Life, even on a single target.

Another tip is to only use your ultimate when your health gets low. Pyro has the most self-harming reactions and interactions in the game, so be careful how you use Arlecchino Genshin if you don’t have a strong shielder in your team. Apply a Blood-Debt Directive, let it fester, then use Q (Burst) to absorb it and heal almost all of your health back if you’re low. This will reset the cooldown of your E so you can use it again for a Bond of Life.

And the last tip of this section will be for plunging attacks – They don’t spend Bond of Life at all! However, they also do not lower the cooldown of your skill. This means that if you have Xianyun, you can get up to some nasty shenanigans with her and Genshin Impact Arlecchino, making a plunge build viable. If you don’t have Xianyun, you might want to consider getting a Genshin Impact Account that does.

Optimal Teams and Rotations

So, Arlecchino’s absolute best team looks like this (For other characters we’ll start with the best, then go with the second/third best options for that same slot):

  • Arlecchino
  • Kazuha/Sucrose
  • Yelan Xingqiu
  • Zhongli/Thoma/Layla/C4 Yanfei – Bennet only if you have absolutely no shielders.

For this team (any combination of characters for each slot) you always want to start with Arlecchino’s E by applying the Mark to the enemy.

After this, you can start by enabling a shield to absorb damage. Since the shield is a defensive option, it won’t matter if it doesn’t last for the full rotation as much as some other skills.

Then, use Yelan/Xingqiu’s Burst to enable Hydro-Application through Normal attacks, but don’t attack with them yet!

Switch to Kazuha/Sucrose and use their Bursts/Skills to shred enemies. If you remember the first thing we did was apply the Blood-Debt Directive debuff, which should have dealt damage and bloomed by now. It will have applied Pyro once more, enabling you to shred enemy Pyro resistance with Sucrose or Kazuha.

After this, finally swapped to Arlecchino Genshin Impact to deal massive amounts of damage. Vaporize is still one of the strongest reactions in the game, and don’t wonder when you see numbers that are up there around 100K with relatively minimal investment into Arlecchino.

Plunge Attack Genshin Arlecchino

Her second team option if you want to do something more unconventional is to join a team up with another Genshin mommy – Xianyun. Well, in this case, it would be like Daddy and Mommy because Arlecchino Genshin is referred to as “Father” by her children!

  • Arlecchino
  • Xianyun
  • Zhongli/Thoma/Layla/C4 Yanfei
  • Furina/Bennet

A bit more high-maintenance/investment, but can work amazingly well with Furina.

Arlecchino just shows how much power creep there is in Genshin Impact. If compared to other characters with a similar playstyle, she just outshines them in almost every aspect. Xiao with a full team based around him (Xianyun, Faruzan, Furina/Bennet) can hit about 100k per Plunge attack, while Arlecchino Genshin Impact does something around 40-50k per basic attack at all times… not counting for the buffs and reactions she can use.
